NFL Week 3 Lines

Since Monday Night Football moved to ESPN at the start of last decade, the network has been stuck with a lot of subpar games. That has led to the spotlight on the last game of the week dimming in recent years, but there is no question that the NFL gave the Worldwide Leader what will be the most hyped game of the regular season this year. The Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens are the co-Super Bowl favorites per the NFL futures odds, and they will meet in Baltimore on MNF in Week 3.

The week starts with two Sunshine State teams squaring off in Duval County. The Jacksonville Jaguars are projected to be the worst team in the NFL this season by many observers, and this defense is nowhere near what it was last year. Jalen Ramsey, A.J. Bouye, Calais Campbell, and others are now on different teams, and franchise player Yannick Ngakoue wants out of Jacksonville too. Meanwhile, Miami will start the season with Ryan Fitzpatrick under center, and the Dolphins are slowly building a contender for the future after looking like the worst team in the NFL in September 2019.

Dwayne Haskins will return to Ohio for the first time in his professional career when the Washington Redskins travel to the Buckeye State to face the Cleveland Browns. Haskins became the first Ohio State quarterback drafted in the first round since the infamous Art Schlichter last year, and he is still developing in his second season. It will be a homecoming for No. 2 overall pick Chase Young as well, so don’t be surprised if Urban Meyer or Ryan Day are in attendance if fans are allowed at the games.

Signing Philip Rivers in the offseason has made Indianapolis the team to beat in the AFC South according to the NFL futures odds. Rivers is a future Hall of Famer in the final stages of his career, but he should be a significant upgrade for a team that has a lot of potential. Indianapolis has one of the best offensive lines in the league, and a healthy T.Y. Hilton will make this team much better in 2020. The Colts are going to be favored over the New York Jets in this late afternoon game, and they have a good chance to start the season 3-0.

Two future Hall of Fame quarterbacks will meet on Sunday Night Football when Aaron Rodgers leads the Green Bay Packers into the Big Easy to take on Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints. Brees set the football world on fire in the offseason with his comments about kneeling during the national anthem, and he was put on blast by teammates Michael Thomas, Malcolm Jenkins, and Alvin Kamara for his stance. Rodgers was one of the first players to call out Brees for his stance too, so there could be some bad blood between these legends that transcends what we see on the field.

The MNF tilt this week will be promoted by the Worldwide Leader throughout the week. Excitement will be at a fever pitch when the league’s last two MVPs meet in the final game of Week 3, and this could be one of the highest scoring games of the season given the quarterbacks on the field. Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson get it done in different ways, but they are two transcendent talents that are at the vanguard of the next crop of superstars. Get your popcorn ready for this one!
