NFL Week 3 Spreads, Money Lines and Totals
Week 3 opens with a potential NFC Playoff preview between the New York Giants and San Francisco 49ers. The question of who will quarterback the 49ers remains a fascinating discussion. Trey Lance was the first round pick for San Francisco in the 202 NFL Draft. Lance was taken as the quarterback of the future for San Francisco. But Lance was injured almost all of last season. As was former starter Jimmy Garoppolo. That set the stage for one of the great stories of the 2022 campaign.
Brock Purdy, known as “Mr. Irrelevant,” was the last player selected in the 2022 NFL Draft thrust into the pit. And Purdy put on a performance for the ages. He led the 49ers to the NFC Championship Game. But Purdy was knocked out at Philadelphia and is spending the offseason in rehab. Purdy is on top of the depth chart but may be unable to answer the bell, which means that Lance could get a second lease on life for his star-crossed career.
As a rookie head coach, Brian Daboll was a sensation. Daboll led the Giants to the NFC Playoffs. New York scored an upset win at the Minnesota Vikings in the wild card round. Most important of all, Daboll saved the career of oft-criticized quarterback Daniel Jones, who was extended after the successful campaign. Now comes the difficult task of a repeat performance for Big Blue.

NFL Week 3 Schedule
NBC Sunday Night Football offers two great mystery teams for the 2023 campaign. The Las Vegas Raiders will host the Pittsburgh Steelers in a matchup of AFC playoff hopefuls. Jimmy Garoppolo arrived in Sin City with strong credentials but a history of perpetual injury woes.
Kenny Pickett had a successful rookie season as quarterback of the Steelers in 2022. Pittsburgh got off to a sluggish start but finished strong to miss the playoffs nearly. Many sharps see the Men of Steel as a team on the rise. It’s just a matter of when for Pittsburgh.
Gamblers will be treated to a Monday Night Football doubleheader for the second consecutive week. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Philadelphia Eagles in the opener on ABC. And then, one hour later, the Cincinnati Bengals host the Los Angeles Rams on ESPN.
The Eagles have captured the imagination and support of the casual sector. One of the great ironies of future market betting is that it is largely based on the past. And the Eagles earned that support with a prolific performance that ended with a near miss in the Super Bowl. But Sharps are concerned that the Eagles had too much go right for them in 2022. Philadelphia escaped the rash of injuries that plagued many other top teams.
The Bengals and Rams clashed in February 2022 for the Super Bowl championship. The Rams won a thriller but flopped badly last season. Injuries and a Super Bowl hangover made the Rams one of the most frustrating teams on the board.
Of course, the 2021 season was a breakout campaign for the Bengals. Cincinnati proved their Super Bowl campaign was no fluke with an even better regular season performance in 2022. The Bengals routed the Bills at Buffalo in the playoffs. But Cincinnati suffered a heartbreaking loss at the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game. Expectations are high for another Super Bowl run in 2023.
