2025 NFL Week 3 Best Bets - Football Lines
Through the first two weeks of the NFL season 10 teams are undefeated. With three teams at 2-0 the NFC West is the only division with more than one unbeaten. That will change in Week 3 with a matchup between the Arizona Cardinals and San Francisco 49ers. Playing without Brock Purdy and George Kittle, the Niners beat the Saints 26-21 with both wins coming on the road. The Cards opened with consecutive wins for the first time since starting the 2021 season with seven straight victories. In a playoff rematch from last season the LA Rams and defending Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles look to remain unbeaten in the only other Week 3 tilt featuring teams without a loss.
The betting week opens with an AFC East clash between the Miami Dolphins and Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen didn’t need to be the hero in Sunday’s 30-10 dismantling of the Jets. Instead the Bills got 132 yards and two TDs rushing from James Cook and the defense held New York to just 154 total yards. The Bills are on their way to a sixth straight division title and have the biggest point spread on the early Week 3 line spotting the winless Dolphins 12-points. The only game between teams without a win takes place on Sunday Night Football when the Chiefs visit the Giants. For the first time since Patrick Mahomes became the full-time starter the Chiefs opened with consecutive defeats. They are favored by 6-points to break the spell.

Has the Chiefs run of dominance in the AFC come to an end? It’s still early and there were encouraging signs in their Super Bowl rematch with the Eagles on Sunday. If not for a pass that hit off the hand of Travis Kelce and was intercepted, we would be having a different discussion. But that’s the way the ball bounces, as they say, and the Chiefs need to get more out of their offense. Mahomes has completed less than 59 percent of his throws through two games and has been the team’s leading rusher in both.
As much as the NFL tries to protect QBs sometimes it just can’t. The Cincinnati Bengals are one of the unbeaten teams but they’ll have to navigate the next few months with backup Jake Browning running the offense. Several starters got hurt and will be out or questionable in Week 3, including Joe Burrow. Browning threw two scoring passes leading the Bengals to a comeback win over Jacksonville on Sunday, but he also tossed three picks. He’s familiar with the role having started seven games in place of Burrow in the 2023 season.
Teams know the importance of having a capable backup QB so losing the starter isn’t a death sentence. Behind Mac Jones the Niners won and covered against the Saints in Week 2. Washington, Minnesota and the Jets could all be impacted without their QB1. The Commanders are a 6.5-point favorite over the Raiders and the Vikings are giving Cincy 1.5-points. On the road for the first time the Jets are a 6.5-point dog to Tampa Bay.
Underdogs earned payouts in seven Week 2 games with five of those teams winning outright. Seattle at +4 was the biggest dog to win upsetting Pittsburgh. Carolina scored the final 19 points in a 27-22 loss to get within the 7.5-point line against Arizona. There was a shift on the over/under from Week 1. Teams cashed the UNDER in 12 of 16 games opening weekend but that trend exploded in Week 2 with the OVER going 10-6.
The betting week closes with an interconference matchup between contenders Detroit and Baltimore. Both teams rebounded from a loss with impressive Week 2 wins. Detroit scored 52 points for the third time in their last 13 regular season games stomping the Bears. And Baltimore is the only team to score at least 40 points in each of their first two contests. And that’s why the early total of 52.3 is the highest on the Week 3 board.
