NFL Week 3 Lines

While on paper it might not be the most interesting matchup, the Thursday night tilt between the in-state rival Miami Dolphins and Jacksonville Jaguars brings with it a couple of interesting storylines. The Dolphins have been competitive in a pair of matchups against the AFC East rival Patriots and Bills, while “Minshew Mania” is currently at a fever pitch after the Jags upset the Colts in Week 1 and then nearly ruined more Survivor Pools by almost mimicking the effort against the Titans this past Sunday. Early wagering looks like the betting markets expect both teams to put some points on the board with the total up to 48 after initially opening 44.

Are the Chicago Bears the most deceiving 2-0 team in the history of the NFL? On the flipside, are the Atlanta Falcons one of the better 0-2 teams in NFL history? We’ll all get to find out on Sunday when Matt Nagy’s squad pays a visit to Hotlanta for a run-in with lame duck coach Dan Quinn. Another loss here could find Quinn off the hot seat and looking for work; especially with the Falcons’ betting line up a half-point to -3.5 since opening -3.

A battle of undefeateds is set to go down in Buffalo in the Week 3 matchup between the Bills and Rams. Both squads have been impressive to this point of the season which had linemakers installing Buffalo field goal favorites due to possessing home field advantage. That number has however since fallen to -2 with a healthy 70 percent of the betting handle in favor of the Rams remaining undefeated on their two-game road trip.

It’ll be a tough spot for the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday traveling to Foxboro to engage in gridiron warfare with the Patriots a week removed from opening up their brand spanking new home stadium in the desert against the New Orleans Saints; especially with Cam Newton and company returning home off a tough to stomach loss in Seattle. New England hit the board as near touchdown favorites which could prove to be a bit rich with all the speed Vegas currently possesses on the offensive side of the ball.

Can Joe Burrow keep the Philadelphia Eagles winless on the season? That’s something NFL bettors will take a hard look at with all the injuries Philly continues to deal with paired with Cincy’s offense actually showing it had a pulse last week in Cleveland. Jared Goff was surgeon-like in carving the Eagles secondary up for 267 yards and 3 TD while completing 20-of-27 passes. Even so, the Eagles have been bet up to 6-point favorites after opening -5.5. Public bettors don’t look to be buying into Philly being the team to fall to 0-3 in this matchup.

After dealing with Baltimore’s unforgiving defense this past Sunday, Deshaun Watson and the Houston Texans now have to deal with T.J. Watt and the Pittsburgh Steelers. On top of that, their defense will have to contend with Big Ben and his compliment of wide receivers that just dropped 301 passing yards and a couple of touchdowns on the Denver Broncos’ heads. Regardless of it being an immensely tough spot, the betting markets have favored the Texans in early betting dropping the line to 3.5 after Pittsburgh originally hit the board as 5.5-point favorites.

The afternoon slate is the biggest of the young season with five games on the docket. The Jets and Colts kick it all off from Lucas Oil Stadium with the headliner going down in Seattle where the Seahawks will look to remain undefeated against a Dallas Cowboys squad that just pulled off one of the best comeback wins of all-time. Russell Wilson and his mates hit the board as 3-point favorites to come out on top, but have since been bet up to 5-point home chalk with a whopping 91 percent of the early bets taken pushing the number north. Seattle has won each of the last three meetings (2-1 ATS) dating back to the 2015 season.

A fun one is set to close Sunday’s main slate out with the Packers and Saints set to square off in the bayou. New Orleans initially hit the board as 4.5-point favorites to defend its turf, but the Packers coming in undefeated has seen early line movement go the way of the visitors. Green Bay currently possesses the top-ranked total and scoring offense in the league after ripping the Vikings and Lions apart the previous two weeks. Marshon Lattimore and company are likely to be a bit more stingy in this battle of NFC heavyweights.

Closing it all out on Monday Night Football will be the game of the week between Patrick Mahomes’ Kansas City Chiefs and Lamar Jackson’s Baltimore Ravens. The Titans robbed NFL bettors of this pairing in the AFC title game a season ago, so expect all the sports media outlets and pundits to be talking about the game ad nauseum leading up to kick-off. Early support from the betting markets went the way of the host Ravens who were bet up to 3.5-point home chalk, but the number has since fallen back down to the -3 opener. Baltimore has dropped the last three matchups (1-2 ATS), and is yet to defeat the Chiefs with Mahomes calling the shots.
