2025 Kansas State Wildcats Week 2 Betting Lines

Kansas State Wildcats College Football Lines

In its Week 0 season opener, the Kansas State Wildcats flopped miserably with a costly loss to their Big 12 rival Iowa State Cyclones. Before that trip to Ireland, Kansas State was a favorite to contend for the Big 12 championship and make the College Football Playoff. The loss to Iowa State has put those hopes on hold. Then came a near disaster in the home opener against the FCS North Dakota Fighting Hawks. K-State wanted to take out its frustrations over a North Dakota team that is not highly regarded in the FCS. They barely escaped with a win in the final seconds. The Wildcats are starting the season off slowly and need a quick jumpstart.

Kansas State Weekly Matchup

On Saturday, September 6, the Kansas State Wildcats will host the Army Black Knights at Bill Snyder Family Stadium in Manhattan, KS. Kickoff time is 7 p.m. ET, with television coverage on ESPN.

Last week, the Army Black Knights lost an overtime shocker to Tarleton State 30-27 as 14-point home favorites. The game went over the total of 47.5.

The college football season is barely underway, but Army has already suffered one of its most stunning defeats in recent memory, falling in double overtime to the Tarleton State Texans football team. This FCS program entered Michie Stadium as a big underdog.

The Black Knights watched a 14-point second-half lead vanish, with late-game missteps and special teams failures spelling doom—and sparking an eruption from the fan base.

This wasn’t just a lucky break for an underdog—it was a complete unraveling by Army. The collapse was set in motion late in the fourth quarter when starting quarterback Dewayne Coleman went down after a scramble with less than a minute remaining. Backup Cale Hellums was thrust into a high-pressure situation and led a final drive that stalled just inside field goal range. Army still had a chance to escape with a win at the buzzer, but redshirt freshman kicker Dawson Jones pushed a 43-yard attempt wide. That miss would prove costly.

Kansas State Weekly Recap

In their last game, the Kansas State Wildcats won 38-35 against North Dakota as 27.5-point home favorites. The game went over the total of 55.5.

Avery Johnson’s 6-yard touchdown pass to Joe Jackson with 42 seconds left helped No. 17 Kansas State win to avoid an embarrassing loss to North Dakota of the FCS.

The Fighting Hawks were looking for the biggest upset in program history and their first victory over an FBS opponent since 2015. Avery Johnson finished 28 of 43 for 318 yards and three touchdowns.

The Wildcats played in all-white uniforms at home for the first time in program history. It was also the first home game in white jerseys since 1991. They typically wear silver pants, both at home and on the road.

Jerry Kaminski was 23 of 38 for 231 yards and a touchdown for North Dakota. He also scored two touchdowns on the ground.

DeVon Rice put the Wildcats ahead midway through the third quarter on a 9-yard run around the right end. Rice then gave the Wildcats the first two-score lead of the game at 31-21 with a 13-yard scamper up the middle, untouched into the end zone.

But North Dakota would not go away. The Fighting Hawks opened the fourth-quarter scoring with a nine-play, 71-yard drive, capped by a Kaminski-to-Korey Tai 22-yard touchdown. Sawyer Seidl then put UND up 35-31 with 4:19 left on a 20-yard touchdown run.

In November 1988, the Kansas State Wildcats finished their second consecutive winless season. Sports Illustrated labeled Kansas State as the worst program in college football. Many observers said the program should be shut down. There was no hope for a program with the worst record in college football history. Following that lost season, K-State threw a Hail Mary. The Wildcats hired Iowa offensive coordinator Bill Snyder to save the program. Not only did Snyder save the K-State football program, but he also built a sustained national power.

Bill Snyder pulled off the Manhattan Miracle with tireless work and a relentless demand for perfection. Snyder did the impossible. In fact, he did so well that the famed Oklahoma Sooners Hall of Fame coach Barry Switzer called him “The Coach of the Century.”

Chris Klieman has continued Snyder's success. Klieman posted five bowl berths in his first six seasons. Most importantly, Klieman led the Wildcats to the 2022 Big 12 championship.
