College Football Week 16 Betting
It’s championship week in college football starting with Friday night as the MAC, Pac 12, and Conference USA will settle their titles. And then on Saturday comes the championship games in the Big Ten, Big 12, ACC, SEC, and American Athletic Conference.
So too do we get some traditional “trophy games” such as Friday’s Old Oaken Bucket matchup of the Indiana Hoosiers and Purdue Boilermakers. On Saturday comes the Battle of the Axe with the Wisconsin Badgers and Minnesota Golden Gophers.
Military tradition and pride will be on the line as well with the Army Black Knights hosting the Air Force Falcons.
And then are some name brand schools that are out of the money but still drawing TV eyeballs. The Nebraska Cornhuskers are one such team. In favorite son head coach Scott Frost’s third season at the helm, no progress has been made. Nebraska will travel to Rutgers to face a vastly improved Scarlet Knights team led by head coach Greg Schiano, who returned for a second tour of duty as the man known for being the only coach that can succeed there.
The Texas A&M Aggies will take on the Tennessee Volunteers, who finally got a win last week at hapless Vanderbilt. Texas A&M still has a shot at the College Football Playoff but will need for the dominoes to fall just right.
The Michigan Wolverines are a terrible team this year but still carry enough name-brand cache to get a prime-time matchup at the Iowa Hawkeyes, who have been one of the most impressive teams in the Big Ten this season. Michigan and head coach Jim Harbaugh continue to discuss their mutual future. This could be the final game for the man initially touted as “Khaki Jesus” but is now the fourth coach since 2007 that Maize and Blue fans have turned against.
All eyes will be on CBS Saturday night for the SEC championship game. The Florida Gators have lost a bit of their luster after a terrible loss to the LSU Tigers last week. Alabama has steamrolled to an undefeated record as quarterback Mac Jones is a Heisman Trophy candidate.
In the Big 12 championship game, the Iowa State Cyclones will continue to try and make even more history as they play for the league title for the first time against the rapidly improving Oklahoma Sooners.
And the ACC championship game features the Clemson Tigers, this time with Trevor Lawrence against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, who upset Clemson earlier this year when Lawrence was out.
