Kansas Jayhawks CFB Week 14 Betting Lines
At the onset of the season, head coach Lance Leipold and the Kansas Jayhawks were touted as Big 12 championship material. Instead, the Jayhawks flopped out of the gate and were eliminated early in the season. However, Kansas has become what everyone originally expected in the season’s second half. Kansas suffered a host of painfully close losses and was forced to play at alternate home venues while its stadium was being renovated. This week, the Jayhawks will visit the Baylor Bears. History was made in Kansas City as the Kansas Jayhawks delivered a performance for the ages, stunning No. 16 Colorado in a dominant victory at Arrowhead Stadium. For the first time ever, a team with a sub-500 record notched three consecutive wins against ranked opponents—a feat that truly highlights the grit and resilience of this Jayhawks squad.
The win also shattered the Buffaloes’ College Football Playoff aspirations while keeping the Jayhawks’ bowl hopes alive. The spotlight shone brightly on senior running back Devin Neal, who saved his best performance for the biggest stage.
Neal was unstoppable, racking up four touchdowns on the day and surpassing 50 total touchdowns in his collegiate career.
His impact was felt from the opening whistle, with a 51-yard receiving touchdown, and he continued to punish Colorado’s defense with his versatility and power.
The atmosphere at Arrowhead was electric, with fans rallying behind the Jayhawks as they fought to secure a monumental upset on Senior Day. Neal’s heroics were complemented by an aggressive Kansas defense that kept Colorado’s potent offense, led by quarterback Shedeur Sanders, from finding any consistent rhythm.
For the Buffaloes, the loss serves as a sobering reality check amid what had been a promising season under Coach Deion Sanders. Kansas, however, has renewed life. The win keeps their postseason ambitions alive, providing a spark to a season filled with ups and downs. In a game where everything was on the line, the Jayhawks proved they belonged on the big stage, etching their names in the history books.

It’s been a long time since Kansas experienced a sustained run of success on the football field. The best times for the program were in the 1900s when the Jayhawks produced a 53-9-4 record over a seven-season span, which included a 10-1 season in 1905. That stood as the school’s only double-digit win season for 90 years when the Jayhawks put together a 10-2 season in 1995.
In 1946, George Sauer took over the program after ten straight losing seasons, leading the Jayhawks to a 7-2-1 record. The following season, KU entered the AP rankings for the first time in school history, ending the year No. 12 after falling to Georgia Tech in the Orange Bowl. It was the first of 12 bowl appearances for the Jayhawks, but Sauer left for another gig after the 8-1-2 campaign, and it would be another 14 years before the next bowl game.
There was intermittent success afterward but nothing sustainable. KU went 9-2 and was ranked as high as No. 3 in the AP poll in 1968, but followed that with a 1-9 campaign in 1969. The 1995 team posted the second 10-win season in history, won the Aloha Bowl, and reached No. 6 in the AP poll. But a 4-7 campaign followed. The greatest season in KU history took place in 2007 when Mangino guided the Jayhawks to a 12-1 record and an Orange Bowl win. They were ranked No. 2 during the year, the highest ever achieved by the program. Mangino was let go following the 2009 campaign, and the Jayhawks haven’t fully recovered.
But 4th-year head coach Lance Leipold is restoring Kansas to glory and with a new stadium ready for 2025.
