Air Force Falcons College Football Betting OddsNCAA Football Betting Online: The Air Force Falcons had a fantastic season in 2016, finishing with 10 wins and cruising past South Alabama in the Arizona Bowl. While that’s the good news, wins are expected to be much harder to come by this season.

While the Falcons have some talent returning on offense, it’s an overhaul defensively, and it’s tough to know how all those pieces will jell. There are other teams in the Mountain West that have more formidable rosters heading into 2017, but Air Force would love to be a surprise contender after finishing 6-2 in conference a year ago.

2017 Air Force Falcons at a Glance

Air Force Odds To Win The Mountain West: +800

Air Force Regular Season Win Total: 5

The expectations aren’t very high for Air Force this season as oddsmakers don’t believe a bowl game will be in the cards. The early money has chosen the “under” on the win total of five games, as the “under” is set at -130 while the “over” can be wagered on at +110.

The Falcons will continue to lean on the run, with Tim McVey the running back with the most experience and other talented runners behind him. Arion Worthman should start at quarterback after completing 59 percent of his passes and averaging 14.0 yards per attempt in limited work last season.

Air Force will need to replace standout wide receiver Jalen Robinette, who finished last season with 36 catches for 959 yards and six scores. By contrast, no one else on the team hit even 200 yards of receiving.

Air Force should be fine offensively, but the defense is the concern. The Falcons have to replace 10 of their 11 starters from a season ago and 12 of the top 13 tackles. The lone returner is linebacker Grant Ross, who is a nice piece but one that will need plenty of help.

Air Force has won 28 games the past three years, and coach Troy Calhoun has this program in good shape. However, this will be an interesting year, with Robinette gone and the defense in need of a revamp.

While the win total is almost certainly going to decrease, don’t be surprised if the Falcons exceed the projections and sneak into a bowl game by pulling an upset or two during the regular season.
