NCAA Football North Texas Mean Green Betting OddsNCAA Football Betting Online: The North Texas Mean Green needed help, but did make it to a bowl game despite only winning five games a season ago. While they have some significant pieces back on offense, the expectations are lower this season, with their projected win total less than the wins they compiled a season ago.

North Texas had a poor point-differential a season ago, regularly losing games in blowout fashion, which is why the oddsmakers don’t have a lot of faith in the 2017 team. The Mean Green would love to exceed those expectations and make a return trip to a bowl game this season.

North Texas only averaged 24.8 points per game last season but there is reason to believe it can improve on that in 2017. Quarterback Mason Fine returns after throwing for 1,572 yards with six touchdowns against five interceptions a season ago, although injuries forced him to the sideline for several contests. Fine needs to improve on those numbers but another year of experience should help.

The Mean Green will rely heavily on star running back Jeffery Wilson, who had 169 carries for 936 yards and 14 touchdowns a season ago. As long as the offensive line can hold up, he should cross the 1,000-yard threshold.

The North Texas secondary looks solid, led by star safety Kishawn McClain, who had 91 tackles and three interceptions a season ago. Cornerback Nate Brooks is looking to have a breakout year. The Mean Green need to make sure their run defense is stout or else the defensive backs won’t be in a position to make plays.

North Texas has some intriguing pieces back, and it’s possible that both sides of the ball can improve this season. However, even if that happens, it may not make itself known in the win-loss column. The Mean Green is significantly worse than a few teams on their schedule and will need to play in the games that are closer to toss-ups.

Last season, North Texas was able to pull out some much-needed wins. Without as much luck this time around, it will be hard to duplicate that win total. The Mean Green could be hard-pressed to make a bowl game after the 2017 regular season.
