Vancouver Whitecaps FC MLS Betting
Vancouver was able to make it back to the postseason in 2021, but the Whitecaps were once again eliminated in the first round. This club has failed to have much success in its 12 years as an MLS franchise, and Vancouver’s failures look particularly bad when you consider that the club’s chief rivals are Seattle and Portland. Those two teams have combined to win the Western Conference for seven straight years, leaving Whitecaps’ fans wanting coming into the 2022 season.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2022 Preview
Lucas Cavallini continues to be the leader of this attack. Cavallini has three goals and two assists in 10 games for the Whitecaps this season, but he is going to miss more games as the Canadian national will continually get called up before Canada’s second World Cup appearance later this winter. That really hurts considering Vancouver has been bit hard by the injury bug.
The Whitecaps are close to the bottom of the table with just 11 points in their 12 matches to date. They have been outscored by 10 goals, and they have lost all six of their road games to this point. Vancouver has been dealing with injuries to all three goalkeepers, leading to and 18-year-old academy player named Max Anchor starting in net. The loss of Maxime Crepeau has really hurt them, as he has immediately shined in Los Angeles.

The Vancouver Whitecaps became the second Canadian team to join Major League Soccer back in 2011. They became the first Canadian side ever to make it to the MLS playoffs in just their second year, grabbing the last playoff spot in the Western Conference in 2012. However, it took four trips to the playoffs before the Whitecaps were able to get their first playoff victory. Vancouver was bounced out in the knockout round in 2012 and 2014, and they were upset by regional rival Portland after receiving a bye in 2015. The 2017 campaign saw the franchise make the postseason for the fourth time in seven years, but more importantly they were finally able to get a playoff win in drubbing the San Jose Earthquakes 5-0 over the span of two legs.
It took some time for Vancouver to win the Canadian Championship, but the Whitecaps were finally able to accomplish the feat in 2015. The club fell in the finals in each of its first three years of existence, and those setbacks are something that has stuck with fans of the team over the years.
Many Whitecaps supporters are likely to tell you that they would rather win the Cascadia Cup than the Canadian Championship though. The Cascadia Cup might be the biggest rivalry in the MLS with Portland, Seattle, and Vancouver all vying for regional supremacy. This is one of the biggest soccer hotbeds on the continent, and fans of all three clubs care immensely about this derby. Vancouver has won more Cascadia Cups than the other two teams, winning six trophies in all and three during the MLS era of the rivalry. However, they haven’t won a Cascadia Cup since 2016 at this point.
