Chicago Fire FC MLS Betting
The Windy City has not seen good soccer in recent years. The Chicago Fire have only made the playoffs twice in the past 12 seasons, and that led to the club breaking the bank for Xherdan Shaqiri. Chicago spent $7.5 million to acquire Shakiri, and they are hoping that the 30-year-old Swiss international can jumpstart their attack. They also brought in Kacper Przybylko and signed him to a long-term deal, so there is optimism that this club can turn things around.

Chicago Fire FC 2022 Preview
Despite the acquisition of Shakiri and Przybylko, Chicago has the worst offense in the MLS. The Fire have only scored 11 goals in their first 13 matches and that has them sitting at the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings. Shakiri leads the club with three goals and four assists, but the only other player with multiple goals is Przybylko.
The good news is that they can’t get any worse, and you can make a strong argument they have been a little unlucky. Chicago’s xG For is 1.23 goals per game, and that would put them in the middle of the pack in the MLS. The Fire must learn how to finish their chances though if they want to make a run at the playoffs.
Chicago had two wins and three draws through its first five games, but the Fire have just two points in their last eight games. They are hoping that Jairo Torres can help jumpstart their team after coming over in early May.

The Chicago Fire had immediate success as an expansion franchise in 1998. Chicago won the MLS Cup and the US Open Cup in its first season, giving the championship starved city some relief. The Fire were very competitive throughout their first decade in the MLS, making it to the MLS Cup Finals three times and winning the US Open Cup four times in that stretch.
However, this franchise has recently fallen on hard times. Chicago has only made the playoffs twice since 2009, and the Fire were eliminated in the first round both times they made it to the postseason. That has led to a lot of lethargy in the fanbase, and Chicago currently has some of the worst attendance numbers in the league.
