Minnesota United FC MLS Betting Odds
The third time proved to be the charm for Minnesota United. The Loons languished in their first two seasons in the MLS, while expansion partner Atlanta United flourished. The Five Stripes made the playoffs in each of their first two years of existence, but the Loons could never get out of the cellar in the Western Conference until 2019. That’s when Darwin Quintero and Angelo Rodriguez teamed up to lead Minnesota United to the postseason for the first time. The Loons had the second-best goal differential in the conference behind Supporters’ Shield winners Los Angeles FC, but they fell to the Los Angeles Galaxy in the Twin Cities in the first round of the playoffs. Taking a step forward was huge though, and the fanbase is optimistic that MNUFC will take another step forward in 2020.

Minnesota United FC 2020 Preview
Replacing Quintero will be the biggest concern for the Loons in 2020. Quintero was MNUFC’s leading scorer in 2019, but he was dealt to the Houston Dynamo in November. Additionally, Rodriguez is leaving to head back to his native Colombia in order to play for Deportivo Cali, creating two significant holes up top.
That will put the pressure on teenager Thomas Chacon. The youngster was acquired as a designated player last summer, and he will be tasked with helping create offense for the Loons in 2020. He showed a lot of potential during his time on the Uruguay U-17 and U-20 teams, so Minnesota is hoping he realizes it this season.

Minnesota United are one of the most recent Major League Soccer expansion franchises. They replaced a North American Soccer League team of the same name that didn’t have much success, but that club did have a lot of fan support and proved that the Twin Cities would support an MLS club if given the opportunity.
The Loons didn’t have much success in their first two seasons in the league, but they were one of the top teams in the Western Conference in 2019. They had the second-best goal differential in the MLS, and Minnesota United nearly won their first silverware.
The Loons made it all the way to the US Open Cup Final, but they couldn’t get past defending MLS Cup champions Atlanta United.
