Toronto FC MLS Betting
The 2021 season was a major disappointment for Toronto FC. After being one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference for most of the last five years, the Reds bottomed out as their core simply got too old to be competitive. That led to a lot of departures in the offseason as Toronto FC said goodbye to Jozy Altidore, Omar Gonzalez, Kemar Lawrence, and others.
While Toronto FC parted ways with a lot of its old guard, the club remained loyal to skipper Michael Bradley. It seems like a curious move as Bradley’s best days are behind him, and he has clearly lost a step. However, there is reason to be optimistic as Bob Bradley is the new manager and the club signed Lorenzo Insigne to a record deal this offseason. Insigne won’t join the club until July 1, but he is expected to make a huge difference up top.

Toronto FC 2022 Preview
This back line was a major question mark coming into the season, and that question mark lingers even more a third of the way through the campaign. Toronto FC has allowed 1.92 goals per game, and that’s one of the worst totals in the MLS. The good news is that they have played New York City FC and Taty Castellanos twice already, but there are serious problems in defense.
The attack has been solid though. Jesus Jimenez has been a surprising difference maker up top with seven goals and two assists, and Jonathan Osorio and 2020 MLS MVP Alejandro Pozuelo have been orchestrating the offense well. The club is eagerly awaiting the arrival of Lorenzo Insigne from Napoli, and he has a lot of gas left in the tank.

It took Toronto FC nearly a decade to make its mark on the MLS. They failed to finish higher than fifth place during their first nine seasons, but they have been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference over the last six years despite their dismal 2021 campaign. The Reds have won the East in three of the last six seasons, and they have been one of the top four teams in the regular season for four of the last six years.
Toronto has faced the Seattle Sounders in all three of its trips to the finals. In 2016, the Reds lost in penalties after a scoreless regulation and extra time, but they avenged that defeat the following year. Jozy Altidore and Victor Vazquez lifted Toronto to the MLS Cup in 2017, making this club the first from outside the United States to win the league. Unfortunately, Toronto couldn’t knock off the Sounders in 2019, losing 3-1 in the Emerald City.
This club has dominated the Canadian Championship over the last ten years. Toronto FC have won this cup competition seven times since it was first organized in 2008, making them the most decorated team in Canada by a wide margin.
