Colorado Rapids MLS Betting
There is a lot of excitement in the Mile High City surrounding the Colorado Rapids. Colorado finished atop the regular season table in the Western Conference for the first time in club history last season, and the Rapids are looking to make a deep run in the postseason this time. It won’t be easy to replace Kellyn Acosta and Cole Bassett, but the club still has most of last year’s starting XI in place coming into the 2022 campaign.

Colorado Rapids 2022 Preview
The lack of a true offensive weapon up front led to the Colorado Rapids trading for Gyasi Zardes in late April. Zardes is the lone Designated Player on Colorado’s roster, but he has yet to make much of an impact with just a goal and an assist in five games since joining the club. The Rapids have solid supporting players, and they are hoping that Zardes ends up thriving once he acclimates.
Bryan Acosta and Max Alves de Silva were the two big signings before the season started, but Acosta and Alves have combined for zero goals and zero assists in a combined 810 minutes of action. Instead, Diego Rubio has been the top scorer with six goals, and veteran midfielder Mark-Anthony Kaye is the second-leading scorer on the club with three goals.
That’s part of why Colorado is squarely in the middle of the table in late May. While the defense has been solid, allowing 1.08 goals with an xG Against of 1.08, the Rapids have scored just 1.15 goals with an xG For of 1.35. The home/road splits for this team are pretty insane at the moment, and they need to learn how to win outside of Denver.

Colorado finished in third or fourth place in the Western Conference for 11 straight seasons from 1998 to 2008. The Rapids finished in fifth place in 2010, but they caught fire in the playoffs to win their first and only MLS Cup. They crossed over to the Eastern Conference Playoffs and then beat Columbus in penalties before knocking off San Jose 1-0 in a very strange Eastern Conference Finals. Colorado went on to beat Dallas 2-1 at BMO Field in Toronto to raise the MLS Cup.
The Rapids never finished atop the Western Conference table until the 2021 campaign. Colorado edged out the Seattle Sounders to finish the season a point ahead of the four-time Western Conference champions. However, the 2021 postseason proved to be filled with upsets, and the Rapids were bounced in their first match by the eventual Western Conference champion Portland Timbers. That left a bitter taste in their mouths, but it doesn’t diminish their regular season success.
