College Football Week 5 Odds

With the SEC jumping into the fray of college football, it gave last week a much more natural feel with real games that really mattered. As we await the return of the Big Ten at the end of this month there is plenty to enjoy in the interim. The Big 12 race was blown wide open when the Oklahoma Sooners collapsed and snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in a stunning home loss to the Kansas State Wildcats. Oklahoma will visit Iowa State in the Saturday night feature game on ABC. Meanwhile the Texas Longhorns are coming off a miraculous comeback for the ages at Texas Tech and will play in the FOX Big Noon kickoff game against the TCU Horned Frogs. Let’s now take a look at Week Five, which is the best week yet in college football.

College Football Week 5 Schedule

College Football Friday, October 2, 2020

Campbell at Wake Forest | 7 p.m. | ACCN

Louisiana Tech at BYU -24 | 9 p.m. | ESPN2

College Football Saturday, October 3, 2020

Oklahoma at Iowa State -8| 7:30 p.m. | ABC

It will take a long time for Oklahoma to live down their debacle against seemingly dead Kansas State on the FOX Big Noon kickoff last Saturday. Meanwhile Iowa State jumped back into the Big 12 race with a big win at TCU. This game features two of the best quarterbacks in the Big 12 with Spencer Rattler of Oklahoma and Brock Purdy of Iowa State.

TCU at Texas -13 | 12 | FOX

Last week the Texas Longhorns were given last rights as they trailed by 15 points with just over three minutes to go at Texas Tech. Texas quarterback Sam Ehlinger pulled his best Joe Namath imitation and told coach Tom Herman that the Red Raiders left too much time on the clock. Ehlinger vowed to lead the Longhorns back and did in an overtime that will live forever in Longhorn lore. It’s the type of win that can often be the springboard for a championship season. TCU may have to think about the long term future of coach Gary Patterson as the program continues its decline that began in 2016.

Memories of the late great Hall of Fame coach Bear Bryant will beckon. The Bear coached both of these programs to glory. Last week Alabama toyed with Mizzou in an easy win but let the Tigers through the back door. Texas A&M "won" at home over Vanderbilt but looked terrible in the process.
