College Football Week 5 Betting

The calendar is already about to flip to October as Week 5 college football betting action gets underway at offshore sportsbooks. A number of juicy matchups will be on the board with the Penn State Nittany Lions and Maryland terrapins getting down and dirty with one another under the Friday night lights followed by another loaded Saturday card. CFB bettors will finally get to see just what the Nebraska Cornhuskers are made of with Ohio State in town, while Clemson will hope to not get caught looking ahead to next week’s matchup with Florida State in its visit to Chapel Hill. The scoreboard might blow up in Norman when Texas Tech and OU square off, while Washington will attempt to solve the riddle that’s been USC in a cross divisional Pac-12 showdown. Pull up a chair, crack open your favorite beverage and get ready for another fun week of college football betting!

2019 College Football Week 5 Betting Schedule

College Football Thursday, September 26, 2019

College Football Friday, September 27, 2019

Duke at Virginia Tech | 7pm | ESPN

Penn State at Maryland | 8pm | FS1

Since logging back-to-back wins against the Nittany Lions the first two seasons the Terps joined the Big Ten Conference, James Franklin’s troops have let it be known Maryland doesn’t belong on the same field with them. Last year’s 38-3 thumping more or less played true to form of the final score results of the East Division rivals’ last three skirmishes. The year before, Penn State took Maryland out behind the woodshed and served up an embarrassing 66-3 beat down as 23.5-point road favorites. The year prior, Penn State won outright 38-14 as 1-point home dogs per the closing college football betting odds. Current power ratings suggest Anthony McFarland and company will be single-digit home dogs for this matchup. Maryland’s averaged 6.7 points the last three meetings with the Nittany Lions, and will need to at the very least triple that output to be competitive this time.

Ohio State at Nebraska

Just how for real are the 2019-20 Nebraska Cornhuskers? Linemakers have Adrian Martinez lined as a 12-1 longshot to win the Heisman Trophy with Scott Frost’s kids also offering up a juicy 50-1 return at online sportsbooks should it ultimately be the last team standing come the conclusion of the College Football Playoff. Big Red will have taken on the likes of South Alabama, Colorado, Northern Illinois and Illinois to this point. It’s time CFB bettors get an up close and personal look as to just how good this team truly is in Week 5 when Ryan Day’s Buckeyes invade Lincoln with a huge contingent of scarlet and gray fanfare making the trip. Prior to last season’s 36-31 final in the Horseshoe, the Huskers fell to Ohio State by an average of 41.7 points in three straight meetings. Current Game of the Year lines has the Cornhuskers catching 10 points with the power ratings suggesting a pointspread closer to 7. Either way, this should be one of the best Big Ten matchups of the regular season!

Ole Miss at Alabama

Rutgers at Michigan

Stanford at Oregon State

Kentucky at South Carolina

Texas A&M vs. Arkansas (in Arlington, TX)

Texas Tech at Oklahoma

The Red Raiders aren’t looked upon as a team that can make much of any noise in the Big 12 let alone the run for the CFP, but this is a team that lost three games by eight points or fewer with two of them coming against both Texas and Oklahoma – the two teams that battled one another for the Big 12 title a season ago. Alan Bowman is back to run the “Air Raid” attack sans Kliff Kingsbury who is now coaching the Arizona Cardinals in the NFL. Lincoln Riley reeled in a big catch this past offseason in luring grad transfer Jalen Hurts to lead what’s expected to be another potent Sooner’s attack in 2019-20. Texas Tech has shown a penchant for competing against Boomer Sooner when at home losing the last three meetings by an average of just 8.7 points, but it’s been a much different story the last few times on the road where they got their doors blown out by 36 and 22 points respectively. OU opened as 19-point home chalk on the Game of the Year lines, and will be looking to log an eighth straight win against its conference rivals (4-3 ATS).

Towson at Florida

UCLA at Arizona

UConn at UCF

UNLV at Wyoming

Wake Forest at Boston College

Washington State at Utah

Louisiana at Georgia Southern

Middle Tennessee at Iowa

Kansas State at Oklahoma State

South Alabama at ULM

Clemson at North Carolina

Fresh off a scrimmage with Charlotte the previous week, the defending champs enter a possible look-ahead spot in a non-divisional ACC matchup with the North Carolina Tar Heels. The Tigers have a date with the Florida State Seminoles at home next week, so it’s certainly within the realm of possibility that Swinney’s troops let off the gas in this one with the main goal of having everyone healthy and locked in for next week’s Atlantic Division showdown. Trevor Lawrence and company opened up as near 4 touchdown favorites on the road for this matchup which is understandable considering Clemson has averaged a healthy 51.3 points the last three times the Heels showed up on the schedule. Needless to say, but all three of those matchups raced right past the closing total at top rated sportsbooks.

Kansas at TCU

Buffalo at Miami (Ohio)

BYU at Toledo

Central Michigan at Western Michigan

Akron at UMass

Delaware at Pitt

Fresno State at New Mexico State

Georgia Tech at Temple

USC at Washington

It’s tough to get a true gauge of what the Trojans will have brought to the table to this point of the season with so many question marks abound in Clay Helton’s fourth go round at the helm of USC’s football program. Coming off its first losing campaign since the turn of the century, the Trojans have much to prove heading into the 2019-20 season. Should the team exceed expectations through the first month of the schedule, this matchup with U-Dub could prove to be huge in the Pac-12 pecking order. Though the Huskies have a number of holes to fill – especially on the defensive side of the ball – they’re still the conference champions and have plenty of talent to fill in on both sides of the ball. Chris Peterson has proven year in and year out to be one of the best coaches in the collegiate landscape, and he’s expected to once again overlook a competent bunch. Helton did however get the best of him in the program’s lone meeting since both coaches took over. Washington opened as near 10-point favorites to come out triumphant on the Game of the Year lines.
