The top matchup in Week 1 has Birmingham at Arlington. The Stallions are a two-time USFL champion and they return their head coach, Skip Holtz and a number of key players. Key returning players are receiver Victor Bolden, quarterback J'Mar Smith and tight end Jace Sternberger. The bad news for Birmingham is that they lost 2023 USFL MVP, quarterback Alex McGough, and top kicker, Brandon Aubrey in the dispersal draft. Birmingham has won 21 of their last 24 games and they won two USFL titles.

Birmingham brought in former Kansas State QB Adrian Martinez who should be the starting quarterback. He threw for 2,800 yards and rushed for more than 500, with 27 total TDs with Kansas State. Birmingham also added former Philadelphia Star Channing Stribling who has eight interceptions in the last two seasons.

The Renegades went just 4-6 in the regular season of the XFL a year ago but they got hot in the playoffs and won the XFL title. Head coach Bob Stoops is back and Arlington also returns quarterback Luis Perez, who finished with the fourth-most passing yards in the XFL. Linebacker Donald Payne also returns along with Ajene Harris who had five interceptions last season.
