Memphis Showboats UFL Season Recap
If every game the Memphis Showboats played in the 2025 UFL betting season went to overtime, they might’ve gone a perfect 10-0. That may sound far-fetched, but considering both of the league’s first-ever overtime games were won by the Showboats, it speaks to the team’s ability to rise to the occasion in clutch moments. Despite those thrilling wins, they represented the only two times Memphis tasted the thrill of victory over a 10 game schedule.
The first of Memphis’ two overtime victories came in Week 5 in what was arguably the biggest upset of the season. Playing on the road at Protective Stadium, the Showboats stunned the defending champion Birmingham Stallions as double-digit underdogs per the closing UFL spread. Quarterback Dresser Winn, making his season debut, wasted no time making his presence felt by connecting on a 78-yard touchdown strike on the offense’s second possession. The Showboats rode that momentum all the way to a thrilling 24-20 overtime victory, injecting a brief sense of optimism into what had been a rocky start to the season.

That optimism faded quickly. Although Winn showed flashes of promise, the shortcomings of the offensive line quickly became a recurring storyline. Winn was under constant pressure, hit repeatedly, and sacked eight times. He finished the year with a 70.7 passer rating, completing 58% of his throws for 834 yards, three touchdowns, and four interceptions. Two of those picks were returned for touchdowns in the Week 10 finale against Birmingham—marking the first time in UFL history a quarterback threw multiple pick-sixes in a single game. Winn also became a liability when pressured, often coughing up the ball via strip-sacks that were returned for defensive scores.
Statistically, the offense ranked near the bottom of the league, producing just 238.9 yards and 14.8 points per game—better only than the San Antonio Brahmas. The team never found rhythm or continuity, and no reliable skill-position playmaker emerged to take pressure off the quarterbacks leading to a 4-6 record against the UFL odds. Offensive coordinator adjustments and more talent acquisition at key positions will be essential heading into 2026 if Memphis hopes to turn things around.
Defensively, there were a few silver linings. The Showboats surprisingly allowed the league’s fewest passing yards per game (160.6), showcasing a secondary that punched above its weight despite being consistently placed in difficult situations. However, the overall unit struggled mightily. Memphis generated very little pressure up front, recording just 2.0 sacks from their leading pass rusher. This lack of disruption allowed opposing quarterbacks far too much time to operate and pick apart their zone coverages. Even worse was their vulnerability to the run: Memphis allowed 123.9 rushing yards per game and 4.42 yards per carry. This "matador" run defense consistently failed to get off the field, allowing opponents to control tempo and wear down the front seven.
Clearly, Memphis must rebuild from the trenches outward. The inability to protect its own quarterbacks or pressure the opposition proved fatal week in and week out. The talent in the secondary and flashes from skill players like Deneric Prince and Jonathan Adams are encouraging, but they can’t mask the more pressing concerns along both lines. Off the field, the franchise faced additional issues. Attendance at home games ranked among the lowest in the league, sparking speculation about the long-term viability of the Showboats in Memphis. With poor on-field performance and dwindling local support, relocation whispers for the 2026 season may soon become louder.
Memphis Showboats Week 10 Recap
The Memphis Showboats (2-8, 4-6 ATS) concluded their 2025 UFL betting campaign on a disappointing note, falling 46-9 to the Birmingham Stallions at Simmons Bank Liberty Stadium to finish with a 2-8 overall record. Despite showing early fight and holding their own for much of the first half, the Showboats couldn’t keep up with the reigning champs, who outscored Memphis 33-0 after the Showboats’ lone touchdown in the second quarter. Memphis got on the board first with a 25-yard field goal by Matt Coghlin. Following a Birmingham touchdown and a pick-six, the Showboats responded with a 6-yard scoring run by Deneric Prince to cut the deficit to 13-9. However, that would be the last time Memphis scored, as the Stallions tightened the screws and never looked back—adding 33 unanswered points across the final three quarters.
Quarterback play once again plagued the Showboats. Dresser Winn went 13-of-24 for 113 yards and two interceptions, with each being returned the other way for touchdowns. Troy Williams added 14 passing yards in limited action. Prince led the team in rushing with 39 yards and a touchdown, while Kai Locksley paced the receivers with 55 yards on five receptions—all but five coming in the first quarter. Defensively, Andrew Dowell led the way with 10 tackles, and Steele Chambers chipped in with eight. Dillon Faamatau contributed with a tackle for loss and a pass breakup. Still, the unit couldn’t slow down a Stallions offense that racked up 338 total yards and scored on six of seven possessions. The loss closed out a tough season for Memphis, who dropped six of their final seven games.
