Brooklyn Nets 2025-26 NBA Betting Lines
The summer of 2025 served to add to the misery of Nets fans and those who were considering them in the future market for the upcoming NBA season. The Nets are coming off a dismal campaign and failed to improve themselves in the offseason. Not that long ago, the Brooklyn Nets had a fantasy basketball team lineup led by James Harden, Kyrie Irving, and Kevin Durant. To their credit, the Nets did go all in and put together three of their best seasons in a generation. But the ultimate goal of an NBA championship never materialized. While the Nets had talent, they lacked a cohesive team. These days, Brooklyn is an anonymous team of losers who can’t even make the play-in round. Brooklyn has zero appeal to the gambling public, at least for now.

Off-Season Moves for 2025-26
Key additions: Michael Porter Jr., Terance Mann, Nolan Traoré, Egor Demin, Ben Saraf, Danny Wolf, Drake Powell
Key subtractions: Cam Johnson, D'Angelo Russell, De'Anthony Melton, Trendon Watford, Maxwell Lewis
Given the Nets' commanding position as the only team with more than $30 million in cap space this summer, their return has been underwhelming. Brooklyn did net an unprotected first-rounder from Denver and can hope to rehabilitate Michael Porter Jr.'s value.
The Nets also landed the No. 22 pick with Terance Mann prior to the draft, but keeping all five first-round picks and using them largely on players whose games don't seem complementary was confusing. Brooklyn still can create $20-plus million in cap space, and we'll see whether additional deals materialize before training camp.
The Nets entered this offseason with more picks in the first round of the 2025 NBA Draft and more salary cap space than any other team. This forewarned fans and gamblers of a summer of significant change, or so they thought.
Brooklyn used each one of its draft picks, not consolidating any of them and even adding another one, absorbing Terance Mann's contract into cap space in exchange for a fifth first-rounder. There will certainly be plenty of competition for the ball among the five rookies.
The ball might be available to them more often, too, if the Nets cannot come to terms with restricted free agent Cam Thomas. They also traded their second-leading scorer, Cam Johnson, turning the two years and $44 million left on his contract into two years and $79 million worth of Michael Porter Jr., the oft-injured former Denver Nugget. And they picked up another first-round pick in 2032 for that trouble.
Key Players
Nic Claxton was a 2nd round pick of the Nets in the 2019 NBA Draft out of Georgia. This past season, Claxton averaged 10.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game.
Cam Thomas led the Nets this past season with 24.0 points per game. It was a breakout campaign for Thomas. The Nets selected Thomas 27th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft out of LSU.
Head Coach
Jordi Fernandez was the rookie head coach for last season. He arrived from the Sacramento Kings, where he was associate head coach.

Brooklyn Nets History
This franchise was born as the New Jersey Americans in 1967 and became the New York Nets the following year. The Nets made it to the ABA Finals three times in five years, winning the title twice with Julius Erving.
Unfortunately, they were forced to sell Erving’s contract as a result of their move to the NBA, and that led to the Nets failing to post a winning record in their first five seasons in the new league. They only won one playoff series in their first 25 years in the NBA, and there was talk of this team moving as a result.
The New Jersey Nets didn’t win their first division title until the 2001-02 season. That was also the year when the Nets won their second playoff series, and they won two more to make their first NBA Finals appearance. Jason Kidd and a cast of solid role players ended up winning the Eastern Conference for two straight seasons, but the Nets could only win two games in their consecutive NBA Finals appearances.
Once again, the Nets reinvented themselves at the start of the 2010s. They moved to Brooklyn and became the Brooklyn Nets, and they built a state-of-the-art stadium. Joseph Tsai became the sole owner of the franchise in 2019, and he immediately went about making this team a contender by bringing in Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving. The Nets traded for James Harden, too, and they were seen as a potential dynasty in the making. However, Brooklyn won just one playoff series with Durant and Irving.
