Utah Jazz 2025-26 NBA Betting Lines
The decline of the Utah Jazz continues, and after a boring summer of little in the way of offseason production, there is no reason for optimism in the season ahead. From 2017 through 2022, the Utah Jazz made the NBA Playoffs every season. But since head coach Quin Snyder departed after the 2022 campaign, the Jazz have been in a free fall. Certainly, the departure of Snyder is not the only reason for the demise of the Jazz. But the writing was on the wall in 2022 that Utah would undertake a massive rebuild. Will Hardy was brought in as the replacement for Snyder. Hardy was charged with shepherding the roster through a painful transition. So far, things are getting worse instead of better. Utah just concluded the worst season in franchise history. Now, as the 2025-26 season approaches, the Jazz are a long shot to make the 2026 NBA Playoffs.

Off-Season Moves for 2025-26
Key additions: Ace Bailey, Walter Clayton Jr., Jusuf Nurkic, Kevin Love, Kyle Anderson
Key subtractions: John Collins, Collin Sexton, Jordan Clarkson, Johnny Juzang
It is hard not to like what the Jazz did in the draft, landing Ace Bailey — arguably the second- or third-most talented player in the process — with the No. 5 overall pick and adding Walter Clayton Jr., an NCAA tournament darling. They will join a growing group of recent first-round draft picks, none of whom has developed into a star. Maybe one or both of Bailey and Clayton will become one.
Meanwhile, Utah was intent on ensuring it will add another high draft pick next summer. They parted ways with veterans John Collins, Collin Sexton, and Jordan Clarkson. They received little in return, except for the expiring contracts of veterans Jusuf Nurkic, Kevin Love, and Kyle Anderson. This is a lottery team in a rebuild, and it acted accordingly, prioritizing the possibility of youth and the failures that come with it.
After hiring Austin Ainge as president of basketball operations, the Jazz firmly picked a direction. Utah sent out veterans Clarkson, Collins, and Sexton, meaning they'll no longer appear on lengthy injury reports to create playing time for Utah's young talent. The Jazz likely waited too long to move on from Clarkson and Sexton, forcing Utah to give up a second-round pick in the process. Still ahead is a key decision on center Walker Kessler, who's eligible for a rookie extension through October.
Key Players
PF Lauri Markkanen has been with the Jazz since 2022-23, after playing for the Chicago Bulls in the first four years of his NBA career. This past season, he averaged 19.0 points and 5.9 rebounds per game.
Head Coach
Will Hardy is in his third season as head coach of the Utah Jazz. He has been an NBA assistant coach since 2015. Hardy is well credentialed, having served as an assistant with the San Antonio Spurs and Boston Celtics. At the onset of the campaign, Hardy had a record of 85-161 in his three seasons on the job.

Utah Jazz History
The Utah Jazz have been a model NBA franchise since their move to Salt Lake City in 1979, following their 1974 berth as an expansion team in New Orleans. Utah has never won an NBA title, but the Jazz have missed the postseason only eight times since making their first playoff appearance in 1984.
Utah made the NBA Finals in 1997 and 1998 with head coach Jerry Sloan and the dynamic duo of John Stockton and Karl Malone. Unfortunately, they were on the wrong end of some heroics from the great Michael Jordan in both seasons, and the Mailman was unable to deliver on a Sunday.
Long-time head coach Jerry Sloan retired in the middle of the 2010-11 season partly because of a beef with star guard Deron Williams. Tyrone Corbin was his replacement and didn’t have much success before Quin Snyder became the head coach in 2014. Snyder led the Jazz to six straight playoff appearances from 2017 to 2022, but he resigned this summer after failing to lead Utah past the second round.
