Detroit Pistons 2025-26 NBA Betting Lines
In the 2023-24 season, the Detroit Pistons were a hapless 14-68 and one of the worst teams in the history of the NBA. It was the fifth consecutive season that the Pistons finished with a win percentage of under .304. Thus, fans and gamblers had deserted the Pistons, and there were no signs that the team would contend for the 2025 NBA Playoffs. However, last season, in one of the great turnarounds in pro sports, the Pistons posted a winning record to gain a spot in the 2025 NBA Playoffs. Correlate that much of the credit must go to first-year head coach JB Bickerstaff, who engineered a remarkable turnaround in his gig with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Bickerstaff is justifiably gaining a reputation as an NBA coaching turnaround artist. Now, gamblers ask if Detroit is here to stay or if the Pistons were a one-year wonder.

Off-Season Moves for 2025-26
Key additions: Caris LeVert, Duncan Robinson
Key subtractions: Dennis Schröder, Tim Hardaway Jr.
As free agency opened, news came down that Malik Beasley — Detroit's Sixth Man of the Year candidate — was under federal investigation for a gambling-related infraction. That altered everything the Pistons were trying to accomplish, as they were also set to lose reserves Dennis Schröder and Tim Hardaway Jr.
In their place, Detroit signed Caris LeVert and Duncan Robinson for a combined $31 million annually. Neither the Cavaliers nor the Miami Heat made much of an effort to retain LeVert and Robinson, which should tell us that neither of them can replace what Beasley provided for the Pistons last season.
The Pistons' offseason changed dramatically when the news about Beasley emerged. After All-Star Cade Cunningham, Beasley might have been Detroit's second-best player last season, and the late pivot limited the Pistons' options to replace him in free agency. They landed Robinson to supply the shooting Beasley provided and LeVert for shot creation off the bench, but the result is likely a weaker Detroit second unit.
Key Players
PG Cade Cunningham was an NBA All-Rookie first-teamer in 2022. He was the 1st overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft out of Oklahoma State by Detroit. He was a first-time NBA All-Star in 2025. This past season, he averaged 26.1 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 9.1 assists per game.
G Jaden Ivey was the 5th overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft out of Purdue by the Pistons. He missed time with lower leg issues, and his return timeline is not determined yet. He averaged 17.6 points per game this past season.
C Jalen Duren was the 13th overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft out of Memphis by the Charlotte Hornets. He was named to the NBA All-Rookie second team. This past year, Duren averaged 11.8 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.
Malik Beasley was another key contributor to the Pistons in 2024-25. Beasley averaged 16.3 points per game. However, Beasley is under federal investigation for gambling issues. Thus. Detroit had to make considerable efforts for workarounds.
Head Coach
Former Cleveland Cavaliers coach JB Bickerstaff takes over after two playoff campaigns there. He was instrumental in taking Cleveland out of the abyss and into a serious contender. In his final three seasons, he went 44-38, 51-31, and 48-34. Now, he is working his turnaround magic in Detroit. Bickerstaff has a career record of 299-328 but has produced four consecutive winning seasons.

Detroit Pistons History
Detroit is one of the oldest NBA franchises. The Pistons were founded as the Fort Wayne Pistons in 1948, and they spent one season in the BAA before joining the NBA. They made a watered-down playoff in each of their first 14 seasons in the NBA, but they only made it to the NBA Finals twice, and they lost in both of those attempts to win a title.
Their most successful period came in the 1980s when they were the Bad Boys of the NBA. Detroit made it to the NBA Finals three straight years, and the Pistons won back-to-back titles in 1989 and 1990. Isiah Thomas, Joe Dumars, and Bill Laimbeer played a gritty game that didn’t win them many friends, but it did lead to Detroit sitting on top of the basketball world.
They were also one of the top teams in the NBA during the mid-2000s.
Detroit stunned the heavily favored Los Angeles Lakers in the 2004 NBA Finals, and the Pistons made it to at least the Eastern Conference Finals for five straight years. There wasn’t a superstar on those teams, just a talented collection of five players who had great chemistry with Ben Wallace, Rip Hamilton, Rasheed Wallace, Tayshaun Prince, and Chauncey Billups.
