Toronto Raptors NBA Betting Lines

The Raptors had an unproductive summer after a terrible 2024-25 season. General manager Bobby Webster is off to a slow start due to the poor management of his predecessor, Masai Ujiri. Webster begins his tenure with handcuffs and will need time to clean up the mess that he inherited. For the third consecutive season, the Toronto Raptors failed to make the playoffs or post a winning record. Toronto has not been a factor since winning the 2019 NBA championship. The Raptors continue to struggle with luring players to play in Canada and have not recovered from losing Kawhi Leonard after winning the NBA title. The unfortunate Darko Rajakovic is the head coach of the Raptors and does not have the roster that can produce a serious run to the NBA playoffs. Toronto is staring at another lost season in the campaign ahead.

Off-Season Moves for 2025-26

Key additions: Collin Murray-Boyles, Sandro Mamukelashvili

Key subtractions: Chris Boucher

The Raptors, who fired longtime executive Masai Ujiri and replaced him with longtime general manager Bobby Webster, entered the offseason with a salary cap sheet full of overpaid players and did nothing to assuage those concerns. They are on the hook this season for about $156 million for Scottie Barnes, Brandon Ingram, Immanuel Quickley, RJ Barrett, and Jakob Poeltl, and gamblers are not sure any other team would want to pay any of them what they are owed. That makes it hard to make moves in the summer.

So, instead, they made an annual pick around No. 9 in the draft, taking Collin Murray-Boyles, whom prognosticators liked. How he develops in the presence of so many players who are trying to earn their contracts is anyone's guess. Most likely, he will be joined by another pick around No. 9 next season.

A deadline deal for Brandon Ingram turned out to be Toronto's big offseason move. Given how little cap space was available, Ingram was wise to lock in a three-year, $120 million deal after the trade. Over the tax line, the Raptors merely swapped out unsigned Chris Boucher for Sandro Mamukelashvili. They drafted Collin Murray-Boyles at No. 9. The result is a roster that still doesn't look like a top-six team in the East with limited financial flexibility, particularly after a rich extension for center Jakob Poeltl.

Key Players

Previously, SG RJ Barrett was acquired last season from the New York Knicks. Barrett was the 3rd overall pick of the 2019 NBA Draft by New York out of Duke. At Duke, he was the Jerry West Award winner and a consensus first-team All-American. Last season, Bennett averaged 21.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 5.4 assists per game.

SF Scottie Barnes was selected 4th overall in the 2021 NBA Draft out of Florida State. He was the 2022 NBA Rookie of the Year. This past season, Barnes averaged 19.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 5.8 assists per game. SG Immanuel Quickley was acquired by the Raptors last season from the New York Knicks. Quickley was the 25th overall pick of the Oklahoma City Thunder in the 2020 NBA Draft out of Kentucky. Last year, Quickley averaged 17.1 points per game.

Head Coach

Last year, Darko Rajakovic was a rookie head coach who previously was an NBA assistant for several teams, including, most recently, the Memphis Grizzlies. The Serbian native has worked in the NBA since 2014. His record at Toronto is 55-109.

Toronto Raptors History

Unlike the other Canadian expansion team, the Toronto Raptors have thrived in the Great White North. While the Vancouver Grizzlies left Canada after six mediocre seasons, the Toronto Raptors have truly become Canada’s Team, and we saw the whole country erupt in celebration when they won the 2019 NBA Finals.

Toronto had two of the most exciting players in the league in the 1990s. The Raptors had Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady, and it looked like they could become a force to be reckoned with in the league. However, McGrady left for Orlando after just two seasons, leading to one of the biggest sliding what-ifs moments in the NBA.

Franchise hero Kyle Lowry joined Toronto in 2012 and teamed up with DeMar DeRozan to make the Raptors a reliable playoff team. Toronto won 48 games or more for seven straight seasons, and the Raptors went for broke in the summer of 2018. The Raptors dealt DeRozan, Jakob Poeltl, and a first-round pick to the San Antonio Spurs for Kawhi Leonard, as Masai Ujiri saw that this was the best way for Toronto to win the title. Although Leonard only spent one year with the Raptors, he did lead the franchise to their first NBA championship, and he will always hold a special place in the hearts of fans.
