Orlando Magic 2025-26 NBA Betting Lines

Orlando Magic NBA Betting Lines

Few franchises in professional sports have been more anonymous and mediocre than the Orlando Magic. But after a sparkling summer of offseason success, the Magic are an improved team that could make a move into serious contender status for the season ahead. Orlando won the Southeast Division championship in the 2024-25 season. However, that did not give the Magic a pass from having to compete in the play-in round. Orlando remained one of the top defensive teams in the NBA this season. But the Magic remains offensively challenged. Thus, gamblers did not take the Magic seriously. Orlando finished in the red, which meant that sharps had little use for them either. But those perceptions are changing in the preseason future market. Orlando has become a favorite of bargain hunters.

Off-Season Moves for 2025-26

Key additions: Desmond Bane, Tyus Jones, Jase Richardson, Noah Penda

Key subtractions: Cole Anthony, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Cory Joseph, Gary Harris

No team in the East took a bigger swing at contention in the absence of Tatum and Haliburton than the Magic, who swapped Cole Anthony, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and the rights to four first-round draft picks with the Grizzlies for Desmond Bane, one of the most underrated shooting guards in the league.

Orlando was a pesky out in the first round of the playoffs, as both Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner flashed their worth as max-contracted players. It was clear the Magic lacked talent in the backcourt, where Jalen Suggs was injured for the postseason. He will return to a corps that now includes Bane, Tyus Jones, and rookie Jase Richardson. That is a sizable upgrade for a team in desperate need of shooting.

Dealing for Bane looks better for Orlando in the wake of the East opening up. The Magic have a realistic chance to claim home-court advantage in the first round for the first time since 2011. Orlando getting backup point guard Jones on a one-year, $7 million deal was also a nice add. The Magic will have far more backcourt cover after going 21-26 in the 47 games Suggs missed last season.

Key Players

Paolo Banchero was the first overall pick of the 2022 NBA Draft out of Duke. He was the 2023 NBA Rookie of the Year and a 2024 NBA All-Star. This past year, he averaged 25.9 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

SF Franz Wagner was the eighth overall pick of the 2021 NBA Draft out of Duke. He was named to the 2022 NBA All-Rookie team. Wagner is a native of Berlin, Germany. This past season, Wagner averaged 24.2 points and 7.5 rebounds per game.

Head Coach

Jamahl Mosley took over as head coach of the Magic in 2021. He broke into the NBA in 2005 with the Denver Nuggets in the player development department before serving as an assistant for several teams. Mosley improved the Magic each season he has been in charge, and last year marked his first postseason in Orlando. His career record is 144-184, with two consecutive playoff berths.

Orlando Magic History

The Orlando Magic have not been as successful as their fellow Florida expansion team, the Miami Heat. Orlando has only had spurts of relevancy, but the Magic have had some of the most exciting players in the NBA at one time or another.

Orlando had its first superstar in 1992. The Magic selected Shaquille O’Neal as the No. 1 overall pick in the NBA Draft, and O’Neal led the Magic to the NBA Finals alongside Penny Hardaway in just his third season in the league. However, Orlando failed to win a game against the Houston Rockets, and O’Neal left for Los Angeles a few years later.

The Magic had Tracy McGrady and Grant Hill on the roster in the early 2000s, and it looked like they could become title contenders with those two stars. However, Hill suffered multiple injuries and only played in 200 games during his seven years with the Magic.

Stan Van Gundy helped lead the Magic to the 2009 NBA Finals, the last time that Orlando was relevant. Dwight Howard was the star of a team that also had solid players like Rashard Lewis, Hedo Turkoglu, and Jameer Nelson, but Orlando was only able to win a single game against the Los Angeles Lakers. Howard followed in Shaq’s footsteps and left for LA a few years later.
