2025 NFL Sunday Night Football Week 9 Betting Lines

For the second straight game both the Seattle Seahawks and Washington Commanders will appear in a prime time matchup when they collide in the Week 9 Sunday Night Football contest. The Seahawks are coming off their bye after beating Houston in a Week 7 Monday night contest, their second straight win and fifth in six games. Seattle entered the week tied with the Rams for first place in the NFC West at 5-2 with five payouts in its last six games.

It’s been a hectic season for Washington after surprising the entire NFL with 12 wins and a NFC Championship game appearance in 2024. It hasn’t helped that Jayden Daniels missed three games and part of another due to injuries. It’s also harder to win games when you’re the hunted instead of the hunter. Returning to the postseason got more difficult with Monday night’s loss to Kansas City and the return of Daniels may not save them. The game kicks at 8:20 p.m. ET on November 2 from Northwest Stadium and can be seen on NBC.

Seattle enters Week 9 tied with the Rams for first place in the NFC West at 5-2. The 49ers also have five wins but one more loss making the division arguably the toughest in the NFL. It’s the only one with three 5-win teams. Since there’s a good chance the teams will knock each other off when they play, winning games outside the division becomes vital. Seattle is 4-1 SU and ATS in non-division games and enter this matchup on a 2-game winning streak. The defense stood out in those games holding Houston to 19 points in the game before the bye. That was after a 20-12 road win over Jacksonville.

The Seahawks have held six of seven opponents to 20 points or less and boast the seventh-best scoring defense in the NFL. The league’s best run defense will be tested by Washington’s ground game, which averages more than 150 yards and could be reinvigorated by the return of Jayden Daniels. Seattle has intercepted eight passes this season, the third-highest total, but is minus-4 in turnover differential since they are the only team that hasn’t forced or recovered a fumble.

Sam Darnold resurrected his career last season in Minnesota parlaying that into a nice free agent with the Seahawks. It’s been a good move by both sides. Darnold has continued to play at a high level completing 68.2 percent of his passes, which would be the best of his career, for 1,754 yards and 12 TDs. Darnold leads the NFL averaging 9.1 yards per pass attempt and holds the seventh best passer rating at 109.2. Seattle is 5-1 ATS in its last six games cashing the OVER four times.

Losing last season’s Offensive Rookie of the Year for several games was a blow, but far from the only reason why the Commanders are scuffling around the midway point of the season. The architect of Seattle’s defense that helped the team to consecutive Super Bowl appearances in the mid-2010s, coach Dan Quinn has had to reimagine the teams defense. The team has regressed from a season ago to rank 27th in yards allowed per game while conceding more than 24 points per outing.

The inability to force turnovers has been a factor. They have just five takeaways and are minus-5 in turnover differential. The Commanders are last in the NFL allowing 7.76 yards per pass play and going 1-4 ATS in their last five games.

The teams have played close games in the past with the last four meetings decided by a total of 13 points. Each club won twice with Washington getting the cash in all four. They also played UNDER the total in five of the last six matchups.
