2025 NFL Monday Night Football Week 5 Betting Lines

The Kansas City Chiefs have rebounded from the first 0-2 start in the Patrick Mahomes era by winning their last two games and thoroughly dominated Baltimore on Sunday with an offensive explosion. The Chiefs look to continue their strong play when they visit the Jacksonville Jaguars in the Week 5 edition of Monday Night Football. Mahomes threw four touchdown passes and the Chiefs had their highest scoring output in any game since Week 3 of the 2023 season beating the Ravens, 38-20, in a clash of AFC titans.

With the Chiefs seemingly back on track they better not overlook the Jags, which is more than a possibility since KC has won the last eight head-to-head meetings, five of them by double figures. The Jags won three of their first four games for the first time since 2018 knocking off the previously unbeaten 49ers on the Sunday. They forced four turnovers in the 26-21 victory and have at least three takeaways in every game this season. Despite all that the Jags opened as a 3-point home dog.

It’s hard to believe the Chiefs went 41 regular season and playoff games without scoring as many points as they did in Sunday’s 37-20 win over the Ravens. And in that span they reached the 30-point mark just five times. Is the offense reawakening or is Baltimore that bad? Without a doubt the Ravens are struggling on that side of the ball allowing the most points and second most yards per game in the NFL. But Kansas City’s offense looked different with Xavier Worthy back in the lineup.

Worthy had five receptions for 83 yards and ran the ball twice for 38 yards as the Chiefs opened up the playbook. Mahomes was efficient completing 25 of 37 for 270 yards with four TD passes to four different players. The outburst also allowed the Chiefs to cash the OVER for only the third time in their last 10 regular season games. There is still work to do with the Chiefs currently 19th in the league in total offense and 15th in scoring. And they don’t play the Ravens again this season.

It was back in 2018 when the Jags last started 3-1. This year’s version is hoping the ending is a little different. Following their third win of the 2018 campaign the Jags lost seven in a row and dropped 10 of their final 12 games to finish a more Jacksonville-like 5-11. That skid started with a loss to Kansas City, which ironically is the Jags MNF opponent. This year’s squad appears to have the staying power and is just a last second Cincinnati touchdown away from being undefeated.

The club is still waiting for Trevor Lawrence to take over as the next top QB in the league. He hasn’t been bad but less than what teams would expect from a first overall draft pick. It hasn’t helped that Liam Coen is the fourth head coach in five seasons stunting the development. Coen’s expertise is on the offensive side of the football and the Jags have shown signs of improvement. They haven’t finished better than 10th in total yards since 2017 and currently rank 10th with an average of nearly 350 yards.

No team forces turnovers better than the Jags, who have done it 13 times in four games with at least three in every outing. They have four more takeaways then they had all of last season when they were last in the NFL. A sign that the Jags are for real would be beating the Chiefs ending an 8-game losing streak to the perennial AFC powerhouse.
