Boston completed one of the league’s biggest turnarounds, finishing with the No. 1 seed after posting a 4-1 record. The Ballfrogs failed to win a match in Season 1 but entered 2026 as a dangerous contender, led by TGL’s Iron Man Keegan Bradley, the only player to compete in every regular-season match.

The same thing can be said about Jupiter, as they missed the playoffs a year ago but made it this year thanks to some great play down the stretch from Tom Kim and Akshay Bhatia.

Atlanta Golf GC was third at 4-1 with 8 points, while New York Golf Club was 2-2-1 with 5 points. The two teams to miss the playoffs were Tiger Woods’ Jupiter Links Golf Club team who finished at 1-4 with 2 points and Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf team who finished at 0-4-1 with 1 point. In the TGL semifinals it was Atlanta Drive GC beating The Bay Golf Club 9-3, while New York Golf Club upset Los Angeles Golf Club, winning 6-4. The TGL Finals had Atlanta Drive GC winning 6-5 and 4-3 to claim the best-of-three championship.

One of the highlights of the 2025 TGL Golf season was the change in the Hammer rules. In the first few weeks, teams shared the Hammer and oftentimes one team would simply stash it away and not use it. The rules were changed and each team was given three Hammers to use however they chose and the new rules quickly changed the Hammer into a serious weapon. Atlanta used it extremely well throughout the season to win matches.

TGL Golf is a high-tech 3-on-3 golf league that had six teams competing in two-hour golf matches at SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. TGL stands for Tomorrow’s Golf League and was founded by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and former NBC golf executive Mike McCarley. The company, TMRW Sports was founded in 2022 and its focus is on producing technology-based events in sports and entertainment. The 2026 TGL Golf schedule begins in December of 2025 and will conclude with the SoFi Cup Championship in late March. Each of the six teams will play five matches over a three-month time period. A TGL match has two sessions for a total of 15 holes. The first session is an alternate-shot format over nine holes, while the second session is singles where players compete against one another in head-to-head competition for six holes with each golfer playing two holes. Live television coverage will be provided by ABC, ESPN and ESPN 2.

Each hole is worth one point and there are no carryovers. If the two teams are tied at the end of regulation, an overtime determines the winner. TGL's overtime period is similar to a penalty shootout in soccer. Three golfers from each squad will compete in a best-of-three, closest to the pin competition until a team successfully hits two shots closer than its competitors.

TGL Season 2 Changes

Larger Green: The GreenZone is bigger by about 38% and now measures over 5,200 square feet. A total of 12 pin positions are now possible compared with seven previously.

Custom Team Holes: Each team will get a custom-designed hole that will feature their brand or city.

Larger Bunkers: Two of the bunkers have been expanded, making them 50% bigger.

Improved Technology: There have been some changes with the sensors which should improve the sightlines and help fans watch the action better.

Schedule: The 2026 TGL schedule includes more Friday and Sunday matches.

TGL Format

The TGL course is located in the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. It is just under 100 yards long and 50 yards wide. Players hit from real tee boxes on grass, real fairway surfaces and real sand, and putting is done on greens that include slopes that change on every hole. The shots are hit into a giant simulator screen which is more than 20 times larger than a normal golf simulator screen.  Each team has three players for the match and each will start off by teeing off on real grass tee boxes. The players will hit shots that are 130 yards or longer from a box that is 35 yards away from the screen. For shots between 50 and 129 yards, the players will hit from a box that is 21 yards from the screen. Approach shots are played from natural grass fairways, deep rough, or sand. Shots of 50 yards or less are hit from a uniquely designed green to complete the hole. The GreenZone is a 5,270 square foot area that changes on each hole.

When the action begins, the players will be playing Triples which is an alternate-shot format with players taking turns from hole-to-hole and rotate hitting shots until the hole is completed. In Singles, players will go head-to-head in six Singles holes. Each player on the team will play two Singles holes. Every hole is worth one point unless a team uses the “Hammer” and each team will begin the match with three Hammers. The team with the most points wins the match. When a team plays the hammer the stakes of the hole go up by one point. The other team then gets control of the Hammer and could play it again making the hole worth three points or hold it for later. Teams can decline the Hammer but if they decline, they concede the hole unless the Hammer was thrown before the first tee shot on a hole and then they have no choice but to accept. Matches go to overtime if tied after 15 holes. The teams would then compete in a best two-of-three closest to the pin competition. Each team is given four timeouts per match split between the two sessions and timeouts do not carry over. A referee is on the course to enforce all of the rules. All of the golfers will be wearing microphones so fans can hear all of the action. The TGL schedule coincides with the PGA Tour schedule as the TGL and the PGA Tour have a partnership.

During the regular season points are awarded similar to what teams get in the NHL. There are two points for a win in regulation or in overtime, while an overtime loss gets a team one point. The point totals determine the position of teams in the SoFi Cup standings. The top four teams make the playoffs with a single-elimination semifinal round and then a best-of-three championship series.
