Wake Forest couldn’t come up with quite enough points, as they fell in double overtime last week to Clemson, losing 51-45. Clemson quarterback DJ Uiagalelei passed for 371 yards and a career-high five touchdowns. The game-winning touchdown for Clemson came on the second play of double overtime on a 21-yard pass from Uiagalelei to Davis Allen. Wake Forest failed to score in the second overtime.

For the Tigers, Allen hauled in two touchdown passes, while Beaux Collins, Jake Briningstool, and Brannon Spector each had one. Will Shipley scored one touchdown while rushing for 104 yards.

Wake Forest quarterback Sam Hartman set a school record with six touchdown passes, but he was unable to stop Wake Forest from losing to Clemson for the 14th straight game. Hartman passed for 337 yards to overtake four former players, including former Tigers Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence, to move up to sixth place in ACC history with 10,228 career passing yards. In the first overtime, Hartman connected with Perry on an 8-yard touchdown throw, but Clemson countered when Uiagalelei connected with Collins on a 21-yard touchdown pass to knot the score at 45.

Prior to that, Hartman gave the Demon Deacons a 21-20 lead with a 28-yard touchdown pass to Greene with 12:13 remaining in the third quarter. That was the first time this season that Clemson has fallen behind in a game. With 7:47 remaining in the second half, Hartman threw a 19-yard touchdown pass to Whiteheart to extend Wake Forest's advantage to eight points. Three and a half minutes later, Uiagalelei completed a 5-yard touchdown pass to Allen and a matching two-point pass to Collins to level the score at 28.

With 1:19 remaining in the third, Hartman's 25-yard pass to Greene gave the Demon Deacons the lead once more. With 11:16 remaining in the game, Shipley's 1-yard run tied the game.

With 8:07 remaining in the game, Matthew Dennis made a 29-yard field goal to give Wake Forest the lead 38-35. With 4:01 left to play, Clemson's B.T. Potter made a career high 52-yard field goal to tie the game.

Uiagalelei completed touchdown passes of 12 yards to Briningstool and 41 yards to Spector in the first half, and Potter added field goals of 24 and 38 yards as the Tigers led 20-14 at the break. Banks caught touchdown throws from Hartman of 36 and 5 yards.
