Winnipeg Jets 2024 Stanley Cup Odds
The once-promising Stanley Cup window has closed for the Winnipeg Jets. Now the Jets will be fortunate to gain a 2023-24 playoff spot. In the 2023 NHL Draft, Winnipeg was short on picks this year but got its man in Colby Barlow. Although risky at times, his creativity and offensive spark feel like a perfect fit for the style of player Winnipeg targets. The rest of the Jets' draft was mediocre, but they may have nabbed a hidden gem in Jacob Julien, a London Knights forward considered a late bloomer, in Round 5.

Winnipeg Jets NHL Betting Lines
The 2022-23 Winnipeg Jets were 46-33-3 straight up and 25-53 over/under the total. Also, Winnipeg was 4th in the Central Division playoff standings. Winnipeg was 14 points behind the Colorado Avalanche in the Central Division race. Winnipeg had NHL rankings of 21st for goals scored and 23rd for power play efficiency. In comparison, on defense, the Jets had NHL rankings of 10th for goals against and 7th for penalty killing.
First among Winnipeg scorers was Kyle Connor with 31 goals, 49 assists, 80 points, and a -11. Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck had a .920 save percentage and 2.49 goals against average. His record was 37-25-2 with four shutouts.
The culture was central to head coach Rick Bowness' first season in Winnipeg, from the decision to strip Blake Wheeler of his captaincy to what he said after the Jets were eliminated in the postseason. So what will that culture look like in Bowness' second season now that the Jets have started making changes? And what is the realistic expectation for them in 2023-24 after Bowness tore into the team following its playoff elimination?
Changes were and still are expected in Winnipeg. Part of that means finding NHL players who can replace the traded ones. That happened when the Jets traded Pierre-Luc Dubois to the Los Angeles Kings and got three NHL players in return: Iafallo, Kupari, and Vilardi. The Blake Wheeler buyout also saw them clear cap space and cost them $2.75 million over the next two seasons. The Jets also re-signed Vladislav Namestnikov and brought Laurent Brossoit back after his stint with the Golden Knights to help form a roster that will attempt to aim at a consecutive playoff berth.

Winnipeg Jets History
Founded in 1999 as the Atlanta Thrashers, the franchise moved to Winnipeg in 2011 due to ownership issues in the Peach State. This is the second iteration of the Winnipeg Jets.
The first Jets franchise was founded in 1972 as a World Hockey Association charter member. The franchise was named “Jets” in honor of signing Chicago Blackhawks superstar Bobby Hull to a record contract before their first campaign. The Jets merged into the NHL in 1979 but moved to Arizona in 1996 due to attendance, arena, and Canadian dollar issues. These days Winnipeg sells out every game and has among the best and most creative fans in the NHL.
The long-term concern for the Jets and their fans is if they can ever really win a Stanley Cup. Winnipeg. In 2017-18 it seemed as if the Jets were on the cusp. But in the Western Conference Final, Winnipeg was upset by the expansion Vegas Golden Knights. That was the only conference final in team history, and the Jets have never come that close since.
Winnipeg remains a difficult sell for free agent players. And free agent coaches for that manner. In the summer of 2022, local product Barry Trotz was available in the head coaching market. But after serious talks with the Jets, Trotz decided not to take the job. The best players in the NHL never consider coming to Winnipeg, known for its harsh winters. And the Jets are often in danger of losing their best players for that reason, as well as oppressive Canadian taxes.
