Anaheim Ducks 2025-26 NHL Betting Lines

Anaheim Ducks NHL Betting Lines

For the first time in seven years, there is a sense of legitimate optimism regarding the Anaheim Ducks. It begins with the arrival of head coach Joel Quenneville, who inherits a young but improving team. A strong offseason further adds to the optimism of gamblers and fans. Since their last playoff appearance in 2018, there has been little hope or excitement surrounding the Anaheim Ducks. However, the 2024-25 season provided the first true signs that a turnaround is nearing fruition. In the second season under head coach Greg Cronin, the Ducks improved from 59 points to 80. And although they were on the fringes of contention for the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Ducks improved enough to give gamblers hope that 2026 could be different. Still, concerns persist about the Ducks' poor metrics, particularly on offense. The belief is that Quenneville will take care of that.

Off-Season Moves for 2025-26

In: Chris Kreider, Mikael Granlund, Ryan Poehling, Petr Mrazek

Out: Trevor Zegras, Isac Lundestrom, John Gibson

The biggest addition for the Ducks is not one that the model will capture. It’s the new guy behind the bench: Joel Quenneville. That’s likely to be a significant tactical upgrade for the franchise, one that brings about numerous internal improvements.

Beyond that, Anaheim has also fortified its forward group with two major additions and one intriguing trade. Chris Kreider and Mikael Granlund aren’t young or without flaws, but they are both top-six caliber players who can bolster Anaheim’s attack. Those additions give young centers Mason McTavish and Leo Carlsson some actual help to work with on the wing, enough for the Ducks to start digging out from the league’s basement.

As for Ryan Poehling, he may not possess the offensive flash that Trevor Zegras has, but he does bring the defensive substance the Ducks desperately need. He provides a big boost to Anaheim’s bottom six.

Simply put, the Ducks might have had one of the strongest offseasons of any team in the NHL. Having "a window" in the NHL is talk that's usually reserved for championship challengers trying to win before it falls apart. In the Ducks' case, their "window" is still having a talented core of young players on team-friendly deals that allow them to spend more money elsewhere, for now.

That's what the Ducks did by trading for Kreider, who has two years left at $6.5 million average annual value. Trading Gibson and Zegras shed $12.15 million in salary.

Some of those savings went toward signing top-nine forward Granlund. What the Ducks received in return from their trades allowed them to fill holes at team-friendly prices. Once July 1 ended, it left Ducks GM Pat Verbeek with what appears to be more than enough money to sign his RFA class.

Key Players

RW Frank Vatrano is an interesting case in that he went undrafted. His NHL career began in 2015-16 with the Boston Bruins. He also played with the Florida Panthers and New York Rangers. This is his third season with the Ducks. Vatrano made the All-Star Game for the first time in 2024. This past year, Vetrano had 21 goals, 23 assists, 44 points, and a -10.

RW Troy Terry scored 37 goals three seasons ago and is a two-time NHL All-Star. Last year, Terry scored 21 goals, had 34 assists, and totaled 55 points.

Goaltenders

Goaltender John Gibson has spent his entire NHL career with the Ducks, which began in 2013-14. He is a three-time NHL All-Star who peaked from 2015-16 through 2018-19. This past year, he has had a 2.77 goals against average and a .911 save percentage. His record is 11-11-2. However, Gibson moved on to the Detroit Red Wings this summer.

Luks Dostal has a 3.10 goals against average and a save percentage of .903. His record is 23-23-7 with one shutout.

Head Coach

Head coach Greg Cronin was a rookie NHL head coach upon taking over in 2023. His Anaheim career record was 62-87-15. The Ducks parted ways with Cronin after the season.

Jolel Quenneville arrives as a 3-time Stanley Cup champion with the Chicago Blackhawks. He has a career record of 969-572-77-150 and is 121-104 in the playoffs.

Anaheim Ducks History

Founded as a 1993 expansion franchise by the Walt Disney Company, the Ducks were originally known as the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim before rebranding as the Anaheim Ducks in 2006-07. That season, they won their only Stanley Cup. Although the Ducks have a hard-core fan base and great ownership, they have always been LA’s second hockey team after the Los Angeles Kings. Now that they are losing, the Ducks operate anonymously, forgotten in a location flooded with other pro and college sports alternatives, unlimited entertainment options, and perfect weather.

The story of the Ducks' berth is a fascinating tale. Then-Los Angeles Kings owner Bruce McNall was riding high, or so it seemed. McNall’s Kings were coming off a Western Conference championship. McNall was the Chairman of the Board of Governors. His team played to sell-out crowds and owned the town with Wayne Gretzky. The Kings made hockey cool in Tinseltown. But McNall had a dark secret. He could not pay his bills and was running a Ponzi scheme. McNall was under investigation for fraud and desperately needed funds.

So, he persuaded the Walt Disney Corporation to fund an expansion team in Anaheim and pocketed the fee. McNall lost the Kings and ended up in prison a few years later. The Ducks were the first team from Southern California to win the Stanley Cup.

After the 2021-22 season, the Ducks’ all-time leading scorer retired. Ryan Getzlaf was synonymous with the Ducks for 15 years, finishing with 1,157 games, 282 goals, and 737 assists. He was on the 2007 Stanley Cup team. Other famous former Ducks include Teemu Selanne, Paul Kariya, and Scott Niedermayer.
