Winnipeg Jets 2024-25 Stanley Cup Betting

Winnipeg Jets NHL Betting Online

The Winnipeg Jets are coming off a Presidents’ Trophy season as the best regular-season team in the NHL. But none of that matters compared to the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Winnipeg qualified for the postseason for the seventh time in eight seasons this year. But since their appearance in the 2018 Western Conference Final, the Jets have reached the second round only one time (2021). Thus, Jets fans have a sense of skepticism that has hurt the team at the gate for the past two seasons. However, first year head coach Scott Arniel could eventually be the difference.

In the second round of the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Jets were eliminated by the Dallas Stars in six games for another playoff heartache.

Winnipeg Jets History

Founded in 1999 as the Atlanta Thrashers, the franchise moved to Winnipeg in 2011 due to ownership issues in the Peach State. This is the second iteration of the Winnipeg Jets.

The first Jets franchise was founded in 1972 as a World Hockey Association charter member. The franchise was named “Jets” in honor of signing Chicago Blackhawks superstar Bobby Hull to a record contract before their first campaign. The Jets merged into the NHL in 1979 but moved to Arizona in 1996 due to attendance, arena, and Canadian dollar issues. These days Winnipeg sells out every game and has among the best and most creative fans in the NHL.

The long-term concern for the Jets and their fans is if they can ever really win a Stanley Cup. Winnipeg. In 2017-18 it seemed as if the Jets were on the cusp. But in the Western Conference Final, Winnipeg was upset by the expansion Vegas Golden Knights.

That was the only conference final in team history, and the Jets have never come that close since.

Winnipeg remains a difficult sell for free agent players. And free agent coaches for that manner. In the summer of 2022, local product Barry Trotz was available in the head coaching market. But after serious talks with the Jets, Trotz decided not to take the job.

The best players in the NHL never consider coming to Winnipeg, known for its harsh winters. And the Jets are often in danger of losing their best players for that reason, as well as oppressive Canadian taxes.
