The Virginia Commonwealth Rams finished the 2020-21 season with a record of 19-7, including 10-4 in the Atlantic 10. The Rams received an at-large bid from the NCAA Tournament committee and will be a No. 10 seed. The Rams have had some success in previous NCAA Tourneys, including a Final Four run. This year’s Rams don’t have the look of a Final Four team and it could be they have trouble just winning a single game. The Rams face a very dangerous Oregon Ducks team that is a No. 7 seed in the first round of the 2021 NCAA Tournament on Saturday, March 20, 2021. VCU is led by guard Nah’Shon Hyland who averaged 19.4 points per game.

On Saturday, March 20, 2021, the VCU Rams face the Oregon Ducks at Indiana Farmers Coliseum in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tipoff time is 9:57 p.m. ET with television coverage on TNT. VCU is seeded No. 10 in the West Region, while Oregon is the No. 7 seed. The Ducks are listed as a 5.5-point favorite with a total of 138.

The Oregon Ducks enter March Madness with a record of 20-6 SU and 14-12 ATS. The Ducks went 14-4 in the Pac-12 and received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.

The Ducks were last seen in the NCAA Tournament two years ago when they were beaten in the Sweet 16 by Virginia. The Ducks are a dangerous team in this year’s tournament.

They have a very experienced team led by senior starters Chris Duarte, LJ Figueroa and Eugene Omoruyi. Head coach Dana Altman has led the Ducks to 11 straight winning seasons. Duarte led the team in scoring at 17.3 points per game. Will Richardson averaged 11 points per contest. Figueroa averaged 11.8 points per contest, while Omoruyi poured in 16.9 points per game and Eric Williams averaged 10.7 points per contest.

Season Recap

The 2020-21 VCU Rams finished with a record of 17-6 SU and 12-11 ATS. They went under the total 15 times and over the total just 8 times. The Rams are led by guard Nah’Shon Hyland who averaged just over 19 points and nearly 5 rebounds per game. He doesn’t get a ton of support, as Vince Williams was the second leading scorer at just 10.6 points per game. The other starters are Levi Stockard who averaged 6.6 points per game, Adrian Baldwin Jr. who averaged 6.8 points per game and Hason Ward who averaged 6.5 points per game.

The Rams averaged 72.3 points per game which was just 154th in the country. They gave up 65.2 points per game, which was 53rd in the country.

VCU began the 2020-21 season with a good win against Utah State but the Rams couldn’t follow it up, as they were beaten by West Virginia. The Rams did get a good win against Memphis in another neutral site game in late November. The Rams suffered a tough 3-point loss at Penn State to start December, but they bounced back with wins against Mount St. Mary’s and North Carolina A&T. The Rams rolled over Old Dominion, Western Carolina, James Madison and St. Joe’s in December.

The New Year for the Rams started with a win against George Mason but the Rams were routed against Rhode Island in their next game. VCU bounced back to beat George Washington but then VCU was routed by St. Bonaventure. The Rams closed out the month of January with wins against Dayton and Lasalle. VCU started February with wins against Rhode Island, Dayton, St. Bonaventure and Richmond. The Rams closed out the regular season with tough losses to George Mason and Davidson along with a win over Saint Louis.

The Rams beat Dayton and Davidson in early March, but VCU couldn’t handle St. Bonaventure in the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The NCAA Tournament committee still thought VCU did enough in the regular season, and the Rams received an at-large bid.
