USC Trojans NCAA Basketball Betting

At the beginning of the season, the USC Trojans were touted as a team to beat in the Pac-12 Conference. USC was coming off three consecutive NCAA Tournament bids and was thought to be one of the most talented rosters in college basketball. Instead, USC went through a season from hell and drenched gamblers in red ink along the way. USC had a mediocre offense and a defense that didn’t play any of it. Head coach Andy Enfield will have much to answer for after a lost season.

USC Trojans Team Review

Overall, the USC Trojans are 14-17 straight up, 15-16 against the spread, and 20-11 over/under the total. USC has national metrics of 151st for scoring offense, 141st for field goal percentage, 96th for 3-point field goal percentage, 287th for free throw percentage, and 250th for offensive rebounding. While defensively, USC is 259th for scoring defense, 138th for field goal percentage permitted, 330th for 3-point field goal percentage allowed, and 209th for defensive rebounding.

Late on, USC has covered five of its previous seven games. USC has gone over the total in four of its last six outings. First among USC scorers is G Boogie Ellis, with 16.5 points per game. G Isaiah Collier brings 16.3 points and 4.3 assists per game. And then G Kobe Johnson adds 10.9 points and 4.6 rebounds per contest.

The biggest name on the roster was G Bronny James, son of LeBron. But Bronny averaged only 19.4 minutes and 4.8 points per contest.

USC was eliminated in the Pac-12 Tournament 70-49 by the Arizona Wildcats. Oumar Ballo had a double-double, KJ Lewis scored a team-high 15 points off the bench, and No. 6 Arizona put on an impressive defensive display in a Pac-12 tournament quarterfinal game on Thursday.

Arizona is known for its go-go offense but showed the kind of defense that is emblematic of successful postseason basketball, holding the ninth-seeded Trojans to 16 first-half points and 35.7 percent shooting for the game.

Ballo had 10 points and 13 rebounds for his 10th double-double in the past 11 games. Jaden Bradley scored 12, Caleb Love added 11, and Pelle Larsson had 10.

Kobe Johnson led the Trojans with 14 points, and Isaiah Collier contributed 13. Boogie Ellis, who was averaging a team-high 16.9 points, shot 2 of 11 from the field and finished with six points before fouling out with 7:25 to go.

Entrenched at USC for the last decade, Andy Enfield had done a standup job of making this Trojans program a winner in basketball again until this year. They were fresh off a third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament, though the last two trips ended in the first round after a surprise Elite Eight run back in 2021. However, there were high hopes ahead for this year.

Enfield’s past success makes the 2023-24 season more difficult to take. It was not a good omen as USC prepares to join the Big Ten for the upcoming season.

The Trojans opened the season ranked #21 by the AP Top 25 and sat in that spot in the initial KenPom rankings. They climbed as high as 16th in the AP rankings before a precipitous collapse. The expectations were that USC would be solid on both sides of the ball, though not everything is perfect. They boasted a very strong backcourt but needed more out of the frontcourt. They have the size and ability, but they were not consistent.

After a couple of seasons as third banana at the top, USC is looking to have the last laugh in the final season of the Pac-12. Andy Enfield was bringing back considerable talent and had struck gold on the recruiting trail. This was an incredibly talented roster that fell far short of expectations in 2023-24.
