XFL Division Championships Betting Lines
The 2023 XFL season is down to the final four with the Arlington Renegades visiting the Houston Roughnecks in the South Division Championship on Saturday, April 29, while the Seattle Sea Dragons visit the D.C. Defenders on Sunday, April 30. The Roughnecks ran away with the South Division, finishing with a record of 7-3, while the Renegades finished in second place with a record of 4-6. The Defenders dominated the North Division, going 9-1, while the Sea Dragons finished 7-3 and won a tiebreaker against St. Louis to finish in second place. Saturday’s matchup between Arlington and Houston can be seen on ESPN 2, while Sunday’s matchup between Seattle and D.C. can be seen on ESPN. The winners of this weekend’s games will play in the XFL Championship Game on Saturday, May 13 at 8 pm Eastern on ABC.
The home teams are favored in each of the two XFL Division Championship games. The Roughnecks are laying 6-points to Arlington, while the Defenders are laying 3-points to Seattle. On paper, the Roughnecks and Defenders should win their games considering each team won their division with ease, but oddsmakers think the games will be close.
The first of the two games will take place on Saturday, with Arlington visiting Houston. These two met last week in what was essentially a meaningless game and the Roughnecks still won 25-9. The teams met in Week 2 in Houston and the Roughnecks won by a score of 23-14 as a 5-point favorite. The total closed at 40 so the game went under. The problem for Arlington in each game was the second half, as they were completely shutout in the second half of both games. Bettors are taking Houston in this contest, as the line opened with the Roughnecks laying 4.5-points and the line is up to six. The total has moved down slightly from the opening number of 41.5 to the current 41. Arlington went 3-2 ATS on the road this season, while Houston was 3-1-1 ATS at home.
Arlington head coach Bob Stoops said his team just needs to put together one could game to make it to the XFL Championship Game. “We could put it together for one big game down in Houston this coming weekend, and you’ve got a shot at it,” Stoops said to the media, “Remember that old saying, ‘So, you’re telling me I’ve got a chance?’ You know, so there’s a lot to that.”
The Sunday matchup for the North Division Championship has Seattle visiting D.C. The oddsmakers are giving a lot of credit to Seattle, as D.C. is just a 3-point favorite at home. D.C. won both of the regular season meetings, but each game was tight. Seattle fumbled a win away in their Week 1 matchup, losing 22-18. The rematch in Week 8 saw Seattle rally from down 18 points to lose 34-33. The line for this third meeting opened with D.C. laying 3.5-points with the total listed at 48.5. The line has moved down to 3 and the total is up to 49. Seattle went 3-2 ATS on the road this season, while D.C. was 4-1 ATS at home.
The XFL Championship Game will be played on May 13 at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
