UFC 232: Jones vs Gustafsson Betting

MMA Betting

UFC 232 takes place on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET.

The light heavyweight GOAT is back, and he’s throwing hands with the man that gave him his greatest test. That’s right folks, Jon Jones meets Alexander Gustafsson in a rematch of one of the greatest fights in UFC history - with the vacant light heavyweight belt on the line.

Despite the asterisk involved every time Jones’ name is brought up in historical terms, there’s no doubting that he’s the most compelling physical prospect ever to step inside the octagon. How do you just forget about an undefeated fighter with a 6’4” frame, 84” reach and a fighting style that nobody could figure out?

The guy that came closest to legitimately beating Bones was Alexander Gustafsson, whose height and range raised some problems. The Swede is 6’5” and an awesome boxer in his own right, plus he was the first man to ever take down the former champ. After two failed attempts to lift the 205-pound gold, Gustafsson could finally take the strap and beat the consensus GOAT in the process.

Speaking of GOATS, Cris Cyborg has a rightful claim to the moniker in women’s MMA. The only knock against her is that she’s mainly been fighting girls who have been way overmatched. But bantamweight champ Amanda Nunes is coming up for the opportunity to seize Cyborg’s featherweight strap, and this is hands-down a superfight. Nunes is the one fighter whose striking might be every bit the equal of Justino’s when it comes to knockout power.

With two title fights featuring two stars of the sport, UFC 232 continues a long tradition of ending each year with a bang. Take a look at the scheduled fights below, and make sure to check in during fight week for in-depth betting previews on how to bet online. UFC odds from BookMaker.eu are typically released on Monday before each event - though big fight bookings are usually available much earlier. Live UFC betting is also available to hedge any of your bets as well.

UFC 232 Lineup (Subject to Change)

Main Event, Light Heavyweight Championship - Jon Jones vs. Alexander Gustafsson

Former light heavyweight champion Jon Jones (22-1, 9 KOs, 6 SUBs) will rematch Alexander Gustafsson (18-4, 11 KOs, 3 SUBs) for the vacant title at UFC 232 on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, Califronia. The card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET. One of the greatest fights in UFC history gets a second run. Light heavyweight GOAT and former champion Jon Jones is back from yet another suspension, meeting former foe Alexander Gustafsson in a rematch of their 2013 thriller which left both men bruised, battered and bloodied. Co-Main Event, Women’s Featherweight Championship - Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes

Women’s featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino (20-1, 17 KOs) will defend her title against bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes (16-4, 11 KOs, 3 SUBs) at UFC 232 on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET. When it comes to the women’s GOAT conversation, Cris Cyborg’s name has to be at the top of the list. Ever since losing her pro debut in 2005, the Brazilian killer has not only gone undefeated in 20 straight fights, she’s absolutely shredded whoever has stood across the cage from her. Basically, Cyborg has wrecked her challengers with the violent efficiency of a horror movie slasher. More

Welterweight - Carlos Condit vs. Michael Chiesa

Former interim welterweight champion Carlos Condit (30-12, 16 KOs, 13 SUBs) will meet former lightweight Michael Chiesa (14-4, 1 SUBs) at UFC 232 on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET. Michael Chiesa is hoping a move up to welterweight can jumpstart a plateauing career. After losing two straight at 155 pounds - to title contenders Kevin Lee and Anthony Pettis - the 31-year old meets one of the welterweight old guard in Carlos Condit this Saturday in Las Vegas. More

Light Heavyweight - Ilir Latifi vs. Corey Anderson

Light heavyweight contenders Ilir Latifi (14-5, 5 KOs, 5 SUBs) and Corey Anderson (11-4, 4 KOs) will meet at UFC 232 on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET. Ilir Latifi, title contender? That’s not something anybody would’ve expected to say when he made his debut in 2013 as a late-notice fill-in, but here we are. The Swede is the no. 5 light heavyweight and squarely in the title conversation - which is sort of an indictment on the weak state of the division. More

UFC 232 Betting Lines, Predictions and Picks

Jon Jones wasted most of his prime years (cocaine is a helluva a drug) with legal issues and even popped hot in a USADA test. Now 31, has he finally decided to be an adult? Let’s hope so, because MMA is better when he’s back in business. Our online sportsbook opened with Jones as a heavy -285 favorite, so oddsmakers obviously think that he won’t have lost much in his time away.

Speaking of favorites, Cyborg opened at -271, with Nunes at +208 on the comeback. To be honest, that’s actually the best odds anyone’s had against Cyborg since 2009, when Gina Carano entered the Strikeforce cage as a +150 underdog. Nunes is a live dog here, as she’s the most explosive striker that Cyborg’s ever faced.

Michael Chiesa is moving up to welterweight after failing to ever enter the title mix at 155 pounds. His first test is former interim champ Carlos Condit, who could be on his last legs as a fighter. Condit was long a fan favorite due to his action-packed fighting style, but a litany of injuries has left his tires bald. This could be his last stand.

We love the scheduled featherweight matchup between Chad Mendes and Alexander Volkanovski. Mendes returned from a two-year PEDS suspension and flatlined Myles Jury, but now he meets 18-1 Alexander Volkanovski, who looks ready to make some noise.

Also on this card is lightweight legend BJ Penn - yes he’s still fighting for whatever reason. You’ll have to catch him on the prelims, along with former heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. This card is so deep that middleweight Uriah Hall is on the Fight Pass prelims, which is crazy since this is a dude that headlined Fight Night cards recently.
