UFC 232 Props - Cris Cyborg vs. Amanda Nunes

Women’s featherweight champion Cris “Cyborg” Justino (20-1, 17 KOs) will defend her title against bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes (16-4, 11 KOs, 3 SUBs) at UFC 232 on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at The Forum in Inglewood, California. The card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET.

When it comes to the women’s GOAT conversation, Cris Cyborg’s name has to be at the top of the list. Ever since losing her pro debut in 2005, the Brazilian killer has not only gone undefeated in 20 straight fights, she’s absolutely shredded whoever has stood across the cage from her. Basically, Cyborg has wrecked her challengers with the violent efficiency of a horror movie slasher.

The problem with Cyborg is finding opponents that actually present a credible threat to her dominance. Nobody has ever threatened her, whether it was in EliteXC, Strikeforce, Invicta FC and now the the UFC. But this Saturday, she should feel threatened. Because the fighter across the octagon from her is arguably the one woman that can match Cyborg when it comes to explosive punching power: bantamweight champion Amanda Nunes.

This is a superfight - there’s just no other way to describe it. You’ve got two champions, and one is easily the scariest woman in MMA history. The UFC odds at BookMaker.eu opened with Cyborg as a huge favorite, but Nunes is absolutely a live ‘dog here. Let’s break down how you should bet online. Remember, live UFC betting is also available to hedge any bets you make before the start of the fight.

We can safely make a big assumption right off the bat: this fight will take place on the feet. While both are BJJ black belts, they’re extremely difficult to take down and have to realize that pursuing takedowns on the other would be wasted effort.

Oddsmakers are squarely siding with Cyborg, and it’s hard not to see why. She is a huge featherweight who cuts a lot of weight meeting the champion from a lighter weight class. Once annihilating girls with sheer physical savagery, Cyborg’s offense has evolved even further under the tutelage of Jason Parillo. The explosive violence is still there, but she’s far more fluid with her combinations, attacking within excellent bobs and weaves.

Like Cyborg, Nunes is one of the few women fighters with true killshot power, as evidenced by her 11 KOs in 16 career victories. In case you forgot, she ended the careers of both Miesha Tate and Ronda Rousey with her missile-like fists. Though less aggressive than her opponent, Lioness still lands an impressive 4.54 strikes per minute, mixing up her Muay Thai combinations with powerful punches and kicks.

UFC Odds Pick: Cyborg to win at -265

Nunes’ biggest weakness is her cardio, and that is going to be a big issue against a relentless Cyborg. We expect the featherweight champion to pressure right off the bat and start teeing off. While Nunes should have her moments with her counterstriking, Cyborg’s chin is every bit as strong as her punches.

UFC Odds Pick: Cyborg to win by TKO

Holly Holm is the only woman in Cyborg’s last 15 fights to last until the final bell, and she’s a defensive specialist. Nunes is not, and she’s got to last 25 minutes at a bigger weight class against a bomber. We don’t see that happening.
