2025 Sunday Night Baseball Betting
One of the best rivalries in baseball and in all of sports is renewed this weekend when the Boston Red Sox visit the New York Yankees. The series finale was added to the ESPN Sunday Night Baseball schedule a few weeks ago and the game will air at 7:10 p.m. ET from Yankee Stadium. The Yankees have shown why they are the American League favorite winning 10 of 13 games following a 7-3 decision over the Dodgers on the last edition of SNB. Though New York has a sizable advantage over Boston in the AL East standings, you can throw the records and stats out the window when the two collide.
There is a long history dating back more than 120 years that fuels the rivalry with each team winning more than 1,000 games in the all-time series. More recently, though, the Yankees have gotten the better of their bitter rival winning five of the last six matchups. New York started to pull away in the AL East with their recent run of success, but as we’ve seen over the course of a long season, teams endure ups and downs. The good clubs just have more ups than downs. The Yankees have certainly been up on offense this season led by MVP candidate Aaron Judge. And as Juan Soto continues to struggle with the Mets, his replacements on the roster have filled in nicely. Paul Goldschmidt is performing like he did 10 years ago and Cody Bellinger has flashed the form that won him the NL MVP a few years ago with the Dodgers.
We can talk about New York’s offense but their pitching has been a highlight. The loss of Gerrit Cole created a void in the rotation that has been filled by Max Fried. And Sunday’s probable Carlos Rodon has been a nasty No. 2 starter. The two entered the week tied for second in MLB with seven wins apiece. Rodon beat the Sox twice last year and is 3-1 in his last four decisions. The Sox are expected to counter with Richard Fitts, who got roughed up by the Angels on Monday. Fitts allowed as many home runs (3) as he got outs lasting just one inning and surrendering six runs. The Sox have lost all five games he started.
There will be plenty of betting options for the Sunday Night Baseball AL East showdown between the Red Sox and Yankees.

Sunday, June 8
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees, 7:10 p.m. ET (ESPN)
Usually by this time in the season you can have an idea of what a team looks like. That just hasn’t been the case with the Red Sox. Hovering around .500 all year, they dropped a season worst four-game below the breakeven point with Monday’s loss to the Angels, which was their seventh setback in nine games. They’ve also dealt with internal turmoil when their highest paid player refused to accept a position switch. You can’t fault Rafael Devers, though, since he has most of the leverage as the team’s offensive threat. That aspect of the game hasn’t been the issue rather a weak pitching staff has eroded confidence. With a staff ERA around 4.00 the Sox are allowing too many runs for the bats to overcome.
The Yankees have been an all-around force during a stretch that saw them win 10 of 13 games. Heck, they weren’t even bothered by an 18-2 whooping handed out by the Dodgers. There could be some issues with the back end of the bullpen with closer Luke Weaver put on IL. Weaver has eight saves in nine chances while boasting a 1.05 ERA. Devin Williams will get another chance to close games after he failed miserably at the start of the season.
