The fourth season of LIV Golf concludes like the previous three with the playing of the team championship this week at LIV Golf Michigan. The 13 teams headed to the Great Lakes State are seeded based on their season-long standings with Legion XIII, captained by individual season champion Jon Rahm the No. 1 seed and the betting favorite to become the fourth different squad to claim the team title. Only 12 teams will compete for the crown with the two lowest seeds – Majesticks and Iron Heads – dueling in a play-in for the 12th spot. The team-only competition will include head to head match play in the first two rounds with a stroke play final round. Every team and player will compete over the three days with no first-round byes like we saw in the past.

Coming off his first individual title last week in Indianapolis where he carded 14 birdies en route to an opening 59, Sebastian Munoz has Torque GC positioned as the third favorite sporting the same opening odds as Fireballs GC. Torque is captained by five-time winner Joaquin Niemann, who lost out on the individual crown to Rahm by less than three points despite finishing with a share of fourth last week. Those two helped Torque win its first team title last week in Indy to go along with five other podium finishes. The first two rounds consist of two singles matches and one foursome match with one point awarded to the winner of each. The team winning two points is declared the winner. The six first round winners are placed in the Championship Bracket with the others in the Rankings Bracket. Saturday’s Championship Bracket winners will compete for the team title on Sunday with the lowest score among those three claiming the crown.

About a year old The Cardinal course at Saint John’s Resort, located in the Detroit suburb of Plymouth, serves as host. Not long at under 7,000 yards, the layout has challenging holes throughout with contoured landscape, bunkers and water serving as defenses. At this point the field is used to navigating a new course with The Cardinal the sixth debut layout of the season. Only six teams won a team event this season with Legion XIII (4), Crushers GC (3) and Fireballs GC (3) dominating the leaderboard.

Even with a short price backing Legion XIII is a smart play. Rahm won the individual title last year but missed the team championship due to injury. His Legion XIII team finished second overall but missed out on the team title. Rahm is looking for a complete sweep and he’s been the most consistent player all season finishing among the top 11 in every event. He lost in a playoff for the second straight time last week in Indy for his third runner-up and fourth top 5 in his last four LIV starts. Legion XIII doesn’t have an individual titlist this season but their whole has been greater than their parts.

LIV Golf Team Championship Winners

Finishing third in the standings during the season, the all-Australian Ripper GC won the 2024 team championship over 4Aces GC and Iron Heads GC. The squad, captained by Cameron Smith, will have to regain form to become the first repeat and two-time winner. Ripper opened with a win and three additional podiums in the first six tournaments, but failed to finish higher than sixth in any of the last six events.

With captain Bryson DeChambeau leading the way Crushers GC opened as the second favorite. DeChambeau had a nice run over the summer with a win in Korea sandwiched between runners-up in Mexico City and the PGA Championship. He will need help from teammates Paul Casey, Charles Howell and Anirban Lahiri.

Wager disputes (claims)

If following an initial review of the case there remains any doubt regarding the wager type, line, market, amount, or any other detail, the claim will be escalated to the BookMaker management team. All decisions made by them are final.
