2024 NBA All-Star Game Betting

NBA All-Star Game Betting Online

The 73rd NBA All-Star Game will return to its traditional format in honor of the game being played in the Hoosier state while celebrating basketball’s deep roots in Indiana. From the first playing of the All-Star Game in 1951 through 2017 teams were divided by conference with the top players from the East playing the best of the West. In an attempt to jolt the festivities the format changed for the 2018 edition with the top vote-getters from each conference named captains and using a schoolyard draft to select from the remaining starters and reserves to make up squads regardless of conference.

The draft format was used through the 2023 playing with Team LeBron winning the first five contests before finally falling last season when Giannis Antetokounmpo’s squad delivered a 184-175 victory. Under the classic format the Eastern Conference holds a 37-28 advantage in the NBA All-Star Game, but the West All-Stars won the last three confrontations before the change. Also for this year’s event teams will play four 12-minute quarters with the untimed fourth quarter target score removed. That format was in use since the 2020 game.

2024 NBA All-Star Game Preview

The NBA’s showcase event will be without reigning MVP Joel Embiid, who is on the shelf with a knee injury. New York’ Julius Randle is also out of action with Trae Young and Scottie Barnes selected by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver as injury replacements.

Five starters from last year’s game are back with Lebron James making his record 20th All-Star Game appearance. Playing in this game is apparently more important for James than helping his Lakers’ squad since he won’t play in LA’s final game before the break. Jayson Tatum is back in a starting role after winning MVP honors last year scoring an ASG record 55 points with 10 rebounds. in the history of the game one player has won back-to-back MVP with Tatum the latest to try and match the feat accomplished by Russell Westbrook in 2015 and 2016.

Bet the 2024 NBA All-Star Game

Betting odds for the 2024 NBA All-Star Game have yet to be released, but you can assume that this will be a relatively short spread considering the talented players on both teams. However, the last two games using the classic format were double digit wins for the Western Conference. We did witness close games in four successive years between 2010 and 2013 with all games decided by six points or less. So it really is a crapshoot when it comes to the final score.

One thing that is pretty much guaranteed is that there will be a lot points scored. It is an exhibition after all, and what draws the oohs and aahs from the crowd are the alley-oop dunks and long distance three-pointers. Nine of the last 10 All-Star Games have seen at least 300 points scored with a record 374 combined points in the 2017 game, which was the most recent using the classic format. In that game the squads combined to shoot nearly 58 percent with 43 three-pointers between them.

You can also add to your enjoyment and excitement for the NBA All-Star Game with prop wagers on such items as which player will score the most points, who will grab the most rebounds, and who will be the game’s MVP. There are a multitude of great props and live betting to make for a memorable evening!

The Eastern Conference holds a 37-28 advantage in the NBA All-Star Game, which becomes more relevant with a return to the classic format for the 2024 edition. Russell Westbrook joined rarified air seven years ago when he won the NBA All-Star Game MVP for the second straight year, becoming the first man in NBA history to win that honor in consecutive years. He's not the only player to be named the game’s MVP multiple times though. Bob Pettit and Kobe Bryant hold the record for the most NBA All-Star Game MVP awards with four, while Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James have won it three times.
