NBA All Star Game Betting

For the second straight season, the NBA All-Star Game will feature Team Giannis take on Team LeBron. It is the third consecutive year that the NBA has had two of its brightest stars draft teams to square off against one another, and Team LeBron is looking for a threepeat. LeBron James’ team nipped Steph Curry’s team in 2018 and outlasted Giannis Antetokounmpo’s team last season.

2020 NBA All-Star Game Preview

If you can make sense of the scoring rules used in this year’s All-Star Game, you might want to apply for Mensa. To honor Kobe Bryant, the format of this year’s game was changed to turn the first three quarters into individual games, and then the last quarter will be centered around scoring 24 points. Although this is a little convoluted, the NBA will be donating at least $500,00 to charity as this game plays out, so we can’t complain too much.

Both players largely drafted teams from their own conference as they probably feel more chemistry with those players. James’ team only has three players from the Eastern Conference (Ben Simmons, Jayson Tatum, and Domantas Sabonis), while Antetokounmpo’s team only has three players from the Western Conference (Rudy Gobert, Brandon Ingram, and Donovan Mitchell).

Additionally, while Team LeBron’s squad is known more for its offensive prowess, Team Giannis drafted most of the best defenders in the league. Four players on Giannis’ team have been selected to the NBA All-Defensive Team in the last two years, and Pascal Siakam is likely to be the fifth player to make that illustrious list in a few months.

Bet the 2020 NBA All-Star Game

The NBA All-Star Game odds have yet to be released, but you can assume that this will be a relatively short spread. If Team LeBron is -150 on the moneyline, that means a $150 bet on King James’ team would return $100 if they were to win on Sunday. That would make Team Giannis a +130 or so underdog on the moneyline, and a $100 bet on the Greek Freak’s squad would return $130 if they were to pull off the upset.

2020 NBA All-Star Game Total Betting

The NBA All-Star Game matchup will have an over/under or total posted. Check back later for the total on the game. This is always a very high scoring game, so don’t be surprised to see a total in the 300s. Five of the last six All-Star Games have seen at least 300 points scored.

You can also add to your enjoyment and excitement for the NBA All-Star Game with prop wagers on such items as which player will score the most points, who will grab the most rebounds, and who will be the game’s MVP. The Eastern Conference holds a 37-28 advantage in the NBA All-Star Game, but those records are out the window now that the format has changed. Russell Westbrook joined rarified air four years ago when he won the NBA All-Star Game MVP for the second straight year, becoming the first man in NBA history to win that honor in consecutive years. He's not the only player to be named the game’s MVP multiple times though. Bob Pettit and Kobe Bryant hold the record for the most NBA All-Star Game MVP awards with four, while Shaquille O'Neal, Michael Jordan, and LeBron James have won it three times.
