You can officially say I’m on a heater with my teaser picks. For the second straight week we cashed a three-team winner, though we didn’t need to tease the lines and total for the Week 5 picks. Beating the house every so often is a good feeling and keeps the betting public coming back for more. And since sportsbooks aren’t in business to pay out every week, we know things will change. The key obviously is to win more than you lose and going back-to-back puts us in a good spot moving forward.... 

There’s always something that comes up and bites you in the rear end just when you think you have a winner. A number of bets have paid off since the start of the season, but unfortunately when playing a parlay, you need them all to work in your favor. It isn’t as easy as it sounds and we’ve yet to hit a four-teamer this season. We are coming off our first losing week of the season, as we went 1-3-1 last week, but we are still 14-8 -1 ATS through the first five weeks of the season. We saw an absolute stinker on Thursday Night Football last week as the Denver Broncos and Indianapolis Colts failed to score a touchdown in a game that had four interceptions, so everyone is hoping for a better show this week. The Washington Commanders and Chicago Bears are hoping to oblige, but these are two of the worst offenses in the NFL. Currently, the Bears are a short favorite by the NFL betting odds, yet this line could still move a point or two either way. I finally had a winning week on my NFL top total plays improving my overall record for the season, though I’m still in the red. The goal is to win more than you lose and I’m slowly making my way up the ladder with another solid week hopefully getting me over the hump. At least I’m consistent on my NFL top total plays. For the second straight week I hit one of my three picks backing the UNDER in the San Francisco-Denver matchup. The teams were three touchdowns and three 2-point conversions shy of the closing total. Handicapping those teams made it an easy pick and it paid off. Just when you think you have the NFL figured out you realize in depressing fashion that you don’t. I’m not sure what’s more difficult hitting a teaser or a parlay card when betting on the NFL. They both got the better of me in the early season, but like any hooked risk-taker I’m back for more with the hopes of hitting one big payday. Either the Kansas City Chiefs or Tampa Bay Buccaneers will fall to 2-2 following this week’s showdown after both Kansas City and Tampa Bay were knocked off last week. Points come in all sorts of ways like we saw last week around the NFL. A blocked punt was returned for a touchdown and the Cardinals won a game in overtime taking a recovered fumble the distance.
