Just when you think you have the NFL figured out you realize in depressing fashion that you don’t. Betting on the league is fun as long as you do it responsibly, and there’s always the chance of hitting the big payday which keeps us coming back. Well, I’m back to give it another go on my Week 4 teaser picks after a frustrating couple of games last Sunday. It might be time to take the Jacksonville Jaguars seriously. I didn’t last week and it cost me ending any hope of a three-team teaser winner. ... 

I’m not sure what’s more difficult hitting a teaser or a parlay card when betting on the NFL. They both got the better of me in the early season, but like any hooked risk-taker I’m back for more with the hopes of hitting one big payday. I compare parlays to the game of golf in the simplest of ways. You can play 18 holes and all it takes is that one glorious shot to keep you coming back. I find the same thrill when playing a parlay, just that one great moment keeps me coming back.... 

The Los Angeles Rams were blown out by the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, but they can grab the reins of the NFC West if they beat the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night. The Rams are 2-1 with a win over Arizona, while every other team in the division is currently 1-2. The 49ers are probably going to be the toughest challenge to the defending Super Bowl champions, and they are currently short favorites per the NFL betting odds on MNF. NFC West rivals will clash on Monday Night Football when the Los Angeles Rams face the San Francisco 49ers to close out Week 4. Either the Kansas City Chiefs or Tampa Bay Buccaneers will fall to 2-2 following this week’s showdown after both Kansas City and Tampa Bay were knocked off last week. This game is scheduled to be played in Tampa, but the effects of Hurricane Ian may lead to this Sunday Night Football clash being played in Minneapolis. Tampa has been spared most of the brunt of the hurricane, but the surrounding area has suffered billions of dollars of damage, and the relief logistics could make it impossible for the Buccaneers to play this game at home. We will see a rematch of Super Bowl LV on Sunday Night Football as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers host the Kansas City Chiefs. Some of the best bets in the NFL each week are oftentimes wagers on teams that are considered the worst in the league. If you want to win money betting NFL games then you need to be willing to take teams no one else wants to bet. We refer to these teams as ugly dogs and you really have to hold your nose sometimes when you bet on them, but history has shown that going against the public works. Points come in all sorts of ways like we saw last week around the NFL. A blocked punt was returned for a touchdown and the Cardinals won a game in overtime taking a recovered fumble the distance. Here’s hoping my Week 3 NFL parlay card isn’t torn into pieces and tossed in the garbage before the final gun sounds on the first game. They squeaked past the Tennessee Titans and Carolina Panthers by a combined four points to start the season undefeated, and Brian Daboll has this team buying into his message. They are only a short home favorite against the Dallas Cowboys this week, but a win over Dallas would put them in great position to make the postseason for the first time in six years. The Russell Wilson era is not off to a promising start. It’s always a good idea to pay attention to injury reports and personnel movement before placing a bet. And as a reminder, watch the weather reports as well. Not doing that last week gave us a loss in the Bears/49ers game when a deluge in Chicago turned Soldier Field into a giant slip and slide. It was hard enough to walk on the turf let alone play football and not surprisingly the teams fell well below the closing total. Let’s not make that same mistake again.... 

Did I mention that all teaser picks on a single ticket need to win in order to payout? I did and the freakin Cowboys cost me a three-team winner last week. The Boys were so bad that even adding six points to their line wasn’t enough. Oh well, that’s what happens when you risk money on the NFL.
