It turns out we were right and so was the betting public on two of our fade plays from last week. Two games pushed the spread and we happened to pick them both, siding with the Lone Star state teams in last week’s matchups. Houston was a 2-point dog on the closing line against the defending champs and the Texans were that close to getting a road victory, only to lose 32-30 on field goal with no time left. Coming off a huge win over the Rams the week before and playing at home, Philadelphia was getting plenty of support from the public. We backed the Cowboys in their game with the Tampa Bay, despite the Bucs getting 7-points and plenty of play on the early line. So what happens? Of course, the Boys win 27-20. We backed Oakland on Monday night and the Raiders gave us a victory by winning outright as a 2.5-point pup. ... 

It turned into a profitable week for us on our money line parlay card as all five of our selections came through to give us a winning ticket. After being stung with big favorites losing outright in previous weeks, there were no such problems. The Rams came through with a win over the hapless Cardinals and the Patriots picked up a victory at home over the Bills. Both teams ended two-game losing streaks as they prepare for the postseason. The scenario is simple for the Baltimore Ravens. Win in Week 17 and an improbable comeback to the season will be complete with the AFC North title and return to the postseason. But knocking off the Cleveland Browns isn’t as easy as it’s been in years past. The emergence of Baker Mayfield along with a midseason coaching change has the Browns looking for their first winning season since 2007 and they already have a win over the Ravens from earlier in the year. If Baltimore is to claim the division... 

It doesn’t matter how you get in the playoffs as long as you get there. The Minnesota Vikings are faced with a win and you’re in situation in their Week 17 matchup with the Chicago Bears, though they can enter the postseason through the backdoor if other wild card hopefuls lose. But the Vikings would rather get it done on their own and not worry about anyone else. Beating the Bears in the regular season finale would certainly be a huge confidence boost for a club many expected to be fighting for... 

Tied with the best record in the AFC entering Week 17, the Los Angeles Chargers are likely to be a No. 5 seed when the playoffs begin. It’s not the most ideal situation, but that’s what the Bolts are facing after letting an opportunity slip past them in a loss to the Ravens last week. The NFC playoffs will run through the Big Easy, and that’s good news for the New Orleans Saints, who broke out of an offensive slumber to deliver a crippling blow to the playoff hopes of the Steelers. The Saints scored a total of 50 points in their previous three road games, but returned to the Superdome to drop 31 on Pittsburgh, wrapping up the No. 1 seed in the conference in the process. It was a great Week 16 for the favorites on the money line with teams laying points winning 12 of the 15 games through the Sunday night encounter. It’s the most wins since Week 4 when the favorites went 12-3 in a 15-game slate. We returned to our winning ways last week on our total plays, cashing a ticket on two of our three selections and just missing a clean sweep by falling a point short on the Rams-Eagles matchup. We did get a winner from the Texans and Jets, who easily eclipsed the total of 41 in Houston’s 29-22 victory. We proved a point last week by going against the public on the early NFL betting lines and hitting on all three games. So much is about perception and the Oakland Raiders were coming off a big upset win over Pittsburgh as they headed into Cincinnati for last week’s tilt. That doesn’t eliminate the fact that the Raiders are still a bad team and have been even worse on the road, with a narrow victory over Arizona as their only road success. Picking a team for our money line parlay card just because it’s favored by a touchdown or more doesn’t guarantee a win, as we found out again last week. We felt the Rams’ loss in Chicago was an outlier and a return to the friendly confines of the Coliseum against an Eagles team without its starting quarterback would get LA back in the win column. Turning to their closer the Philadelphia Eagles stayed alive in the NFC playoff hunt by stunning the Rams on Sunday night as a 13.5-point underdog. Philly rekindled some of its magic from last season’s Super Bowl run with Nick Foles taking over behind center, and the club played an inspired game to stay alive for a repeat. Beating the Houston Texans on Sunday is a must to keep those aspirations alive and it won’t be easy against a team that’s won 10 of its last 11 games.... 

There was a collective huge sigh of relief coming from the Steel City after the Pittsburgh Steelers stopped the bleeding by ending a three-game losing streak with a victory over the Patriots on Sunday. They aren’t out of the woods just yet with the Ravens hot on their heels for the AFC North lead and two other teams having won the same amount of games.
