Xander Zayas vs. Jorge Garcia

This fight is part of the last telecast of ESPN’s Top Rank boxing show that has run for the last eight years. ESPN decided not to renew the deal that had them showing Top Rank fights since 2017. Zayas and Garcia will battle for the vacant WBO junior middleweight title that Sebastian Fundora gave up to fight Tim Tszyu in the main event.

Garcia is thankful for a chance to fight for the title. “They offered me a fight with Xander Zayas in the past, well before the title. His name was mentioned to me by my promoter. I think they were looking for opponents on the way to the title a couple of years ago.” Garcia said to the media, “My team asked me and I said, ‘Yes, of course.’ We told them we were interested but never got the call. The good thing, now, is that when the title became vacant, it was no longer a question. If they wanted Xander to compete for the title, they had no choice but to fight me this time.”
