Oscar Valdez vs. Jason Sanchez

Jason Sanchez is clearly outclassed here and is stepping up way beyond anywhere he has ever been in his career. Oscar Valdez is the proven champion and the disparity in rankings is quite understandable based on the two resumes.

World Boxing Organization World Featherweight Title

Undefeated World Boxing Organization world featherweight champion Oscar Valdez will be attempting his sixth consecutive successful title defense when he faces Jason Sanchez on June 8. Sanchez, currently ranked fourth in the world, won the WBO featherweight title against Matias Rueda on July 23, 2016, in a technical knockout win at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Oscar Valdez is 28 years old and a native of Nogales, Sonora, Mexico where he still resides. He stands at five feet, 5.5 inches tall with a reach of 66 inches and fights from an orthodox stance.

In his last time out Valdez defeated Carmine Tommasone on February 2, 2019, by knockout in the seventh round of a scheduled 12 round fight that took place at The Ford Center at The Star, Frisco. It was a brutally tough night for Tommasone, who went down twice in the fourth round and once in both the sixth and seventh rounds.

Prior to that Valdez met Scott Quigg at the StubHub Center in Carson on March 10, 2018, for the WBO world featherweight title. Valdez scored a 12 round unanimous decision win as Quigg suffered a broken nose and was cut in his left eye by a good and legal punch in the fifth round.

On September 22, 2017, Valdez defeated Genesis Servania for the WBO world featherweight title in a 12 round unanimous decision win. Valdez actually went down in the fourth round but recovered to put down Servania in the fifth round.

Jason Sanchez is 24 years old and hails from Albuquerque, New Mexico where he still resides. He is ranked 129th in the world and faces quite the tall task in this one. This is far and away the toughest fight so far in his young career and the first time he has fought for a world championship.

In his last time out on February 2, 2019, Sanchez defeated Daniel Olea by technical knockout in the second round of a scheduled eight-round bout that took place at The Ford Center at The Star, Frisco.
