Eleider Alvarez vs. Michael Seals Gamboa Betting Odds

Both fighters are in their late 30s, so fatigue is likely to set in sooner rather than later in this bout. Alvarez is expected to be the favorite per the boxing betting odds, but the line won’t be too large as all this match needs is one punch to land from either party.

To those unfamiliar with betting on boxing, if Alvarez is installed as a -250 favorite in this bout, you would have to bet $250 on Alvarez to potentially win $100 in profit. Those odds would imply that Seals is around a +175 underdog, so a $100 bet on the former football player would set you up with $175.

As the fight nears, there will be decision betting too. You will be able to bet on whether the fight is decided by KO, TKO, or decision, and you can bet on which boxer will win the fight in that fashion as well.

Eleider Alvarez vs. Michael Seals Preview

It didn’t take long for Alvarez to make a name for himself as a boxer. He won the gold medal at the 2007 Pan American Games, helping launch a name for himself in the win. Alvarez waited another two years to turn pro, but it was worth the wait.

Alvarez blazed through the Light Heavyweight division, earning a minor title shot in just his seventh bout, and he carried that strap with him for nearly two years. He continued to box well and climb the ladder, getting past other contenders on his way to the top. His power was enough for his first six years as a fighter, but he was forced to settle for majority decision victories against Isaac Chilemba and Jean Pascal.

The victory over Pascal eventually led to a title fight against Sergey Kovalev, and Alvarez turned heads by winning by TKO in the seventh round against Kovalev to claim the WBO and IBA Light Heavyweight straps. That led to a rematch in February, but Alvarez lost that bout and lost his belts in the process, and then he suffered an injury while training in an attempt to return to the ring over the summer.

Seals was a linebacker in college, and he has taken that tenacity to another level in the ring. He was a late starter to boxing, but he quickly discovered he had a knack for it, and he has incredible power.

To no one’s surprise, Seals has won 75 percent of his bouts by TKO. He ran his record to 19-0 before suffering his first loss, a TKO defeat at the hands of Edwin Rodriguez. It took him over a year to return to the ring after that defeat, and he waited for another 15 months before fighting again afterwards, losing by DQ against Michael Gbenga for hitting a downed opponent.

Since that loss, Seals has rebounded and boxed well. He has defeated his last four opponents, and he knocked out 14-8-2 Elio Heraldo Trosch with his first punch in his last fight back in October.
