A heavyweight fight between former Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem and former Bellator Heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov is the headliner for UFC Fight Night: Overeem vs. Volkov on Saturday, February 6 at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card will be shown live on ESPN+. Overeem is 47-18 in his career with 25 wins by knockout and 17 by submission with only five wins going to a decision. 14 of his 18 losses came by knockout with one by submission and only three went to a decision. Volkov is 32-8 in his career with 21 of those wins coming by knockout, 3 by submission and eight by decision. Also on the card is a matchup between former UFC Lightweight champion Frankie Edgar and Cory Sandhagen.

Overeem has been on a nice run of late, winning four of his last five fights. He faced Augusto Sakai in September of last year and won by TKO in the fifth round. He was fortunate to get past Walt Harris last May, as he was nearly finished in the first round but he survived and won by TKO in the second round. His only loss in his last five fights came against Jairzinho Rozenstruik in December of 2019.
Overeem is listed as the underdog in this fight, despite winning four of his last fight bouts. Overeem is a great striker and he actually has the highest significant strike accuracy in UFC history at 73%. The problem for Overeem has been withstanding the big punch, as he has been knocked out 14 times in his career.
Volkov has done well in the UFC, winning six of his eight bouts and he is also very proficient in his striking ability. Volkov lands 6.19 significant strikes per minute. Volkvo is coming off a 2nd round TKO win against Walt Harris in October of last year. He previously lost to Curtis Blaydes by unanimous decision in June of last year.
Bettors have been pounding Volkov since this line came out, as it opened up close to a pick and now Volkov is nearly a 2-1 favorite. That might be too high considering this has all the looks of a quick finish one way or another. Expect the rounds to come in at a low number for this fight and it would be a surprise if the fight made it past the second round.
Another interesting fight on the card has Cory Sandhagen taking on Frankie Edgar. They were supposed to fight last month but Edgar was taken off the card. Bettors are not giving Edgar much of a chance, as Sandhagen is more than a 4-1 favorite.
Another fight of note has Alexandre Pantoja taking on former Rizin FF Bantamweight champion Manel Kape. This fight was supposed to happen in December, but Pantoja pulled out due to COVID-19.
