UFC Fight Night 143: Cejudo vs. Dillashaw Betting

MMA Betting

UFC Fight Night 143 takes place on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The card airs live on ESPN+ starting 10pm ET.

The UFC is bringing a champ vs. champ fight to its first ESPN event. Bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw will move down to flyweight to challenge Henry Cejudo, and possibly end the 125-pound division for good. It’s a super fight by all definition, but it’s definitely not a money fight - neither guy has the starpower to make this a pay-per-view headliner.

Also on the card is former NFL All-Pro Greg Hardy, who beasted his way through DWTNCS, notching first-round knockouts left and right to earn his way onto the big show. Whether you approve of his signing or not - and there are plenty that question whether he should be in the UFC - Hardy’s background and elite athletic prowess makes him a compelling story heading into 2019.

The rest of the night is filled with recognizable names, top-ranked contenders and elite prospects. Take a look at the scheduled UFC Fight Night 143 fights below, and make sure to check in during fight week for in-depth betting previews on how to bet online. UFC odds from BookMaker.eu are typically released on Monday before each event - though big fight bookings are usually available much earlier. Preview: Flyweight champion Henry Cejudo (13-2, 5 KOs) will meet bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw (16-3, 8 KOs, 3 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 143 on Saturday, January 19, 2019 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The main card streams live on ESPN+ starting 10pm ET. We’ve got a champion vs. champion fight to kick off the UFC’s new partnership with ESPN. Unfortunately, the “superfight” between Henry Cejudo and TJ Dillashaw is on the network’s streaming service - meaning it won’t get the viewers that it would’ve had it been on cable. More

The main card streams live on ESPN+ starting 10pm ET. It takes a lot of work to get noticed in the lightweight division. Gregor Gillespie is making that happen. Currently 12-0 with 10 finishes, the 31-year old has won all of his five fights in the UFC, with only his debut going to decision. His last four fights have yielded two knockouts and two submissions, announcing the presence of a legitimate fight-ender - and there’s nothing that WME era loves better than a dude that finishes fights. UFC Fight Night 143 Betting Lines, Predictions and Picks

Dillashaw has been doing a lot of talking, but he could become just the third champ-champ in UFC history. Much has been made about his startling appearance during his drop to 125 pounds, while Henry Cejudo has looked fantastic.

A quick list of former NFL players who made the jump to MMA: Herschel Walker, Matt Mitrione, Brendan Schaub, Marcus Jones, Brock Lesnar. With the exception of Walker, none of those guys were anything more than fringe practice team players. By the time Walker made his Strikeforce debut, he was 50 years old and a novelty act. Hardy is 30-years old and a former All-Pro. The man is a certified giant who regularly spit out 300-pound offensive lineman.

Gregor Gillespie is a standout prospect in a division where it’s nearly impossible to stand out. A four-time All-American and a D1 national wrestling champion, Gillespie has looked like a monster so far inside the octagon. But he’s going up against a certified Hawaiian tough guy. Yancy Medeiros will start swanging-and-banging at the drop of a hat, and he could seriously test “The Gift”.

Speaking of prospects, Alex Hernandez is another decorated wrestler whose been making some noise. Wins over Beneil Dariush and Olivier Aubin-Mercier showed that this kid is already a top-15 talent, but beating Donald Cerrone could make him a name.

PVZ hasn’t fought since January 2018, so it’ll have been a full year between fights when she steps into the cage with Ostovich. But even before her last loss to Jessica-Rose Clark, people were starting to question how fully she was committed to being a fighter. The pursuit to become a TV personality seemed more important to her, and a switch in fight teams signalled more uncertainty.

Belal Muhammad has won four in a row, but 170 is a hard division to get noticed. A matchup with another guy on a four-fight win streak should help. Geoff Neal has knocked out three of his past four opponents, and looks like a great find from DWTNCS. If he can get past an underrated Muhammad, we’ve officially got somebody to watch.
