In 2017, Francis Ngannou was on the verge of becoming a heavyweight superstar. That all blew up this year. First, the Frenchman was exposed by then-champion Stipe Miocic, who reminded everyone that there’s levels to this game. After blowing his wad in the first round, Ngannou spent the next four frames completely exhausted, taken down and pounded at will by a far more skilled fighter.

The next fight was even more damaging. His matchup with fellow knockout artist Derrick Lewis seemed like a failproof recipe for a devastating knockout. Instead, fans were treated to one of the most excruciating heavyweight bouts of all time, where both men refused to engage. It was Ngannou that took the brunt of the blame, as he never took any offensive initiative. Dana White blasted Ngannou afterwards, saying the big man had fallen victim to his own hype.

Ngannou admitted that the loss to Miocic had gotten inside his head, and that sets up an intriguing storyline for his headlining bout against Blaydes in Beijing. Having already beaten Blaydes, Ngannou should own the mental edge here. But how bad are his yips? Blaydes has been on fire lately, going unbeaten in six fights since the loss, including beatdowns over Alexei Oleinik, Mark Hunt and Alistair Overeem.

We’ll say this: if the old Ngannou shows up and bashes Blaydes’ head in, it’ll be time to load up the bandwagon. You rarely see athletic specimens like Ngannou in the heavyweight division. He’s got the body of a Greek god and the explosive power of a prime Mike Tyson. That kind of potential is tantalizing.

UFC Fight Night 141 Lineup (Subject to Change)

Main Event, Heavyweigh - Francis Ngannou vs. Curtis Blaydes

Preview: Heavyweight contender Curtis Blaydes (10-1, 8 KOs) will rematch Francis Ngannou (11-3, 7 KOs, 4 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.

Curtis Blaydes could avenge his only career loss and earn a title eliminator this Saturday in Beijing. The surging heavyweight meets Francis Ngannou in the main event of a Fight Pass card in China, and it’s a matchup that could easily be the co-main of a pay-per-view. More

Heavyweight - Alistair Overeem vs. Sergey Pavlovich

Preview: Heavyweight contender Alistair Overeem (43-17, 21 KOs, 17 SUBs) welcomes undefeated Sergey Pavlovich (12-0, 9 KOs) to the octagon at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.

Alistair Overeem might be the No. 6 heavyweight in the UFC, but he’s dangerously close to becoming irrelevant in the divisional contender ranks. At 38, The Demolition Man is clearly past his prime, with a chin that seems to shatter upon impact. After two straight losses by knockout, the former title challenger now finds himself as the co-main on a Fight Pass card in China. That’s a steep drop for a guy that was headlining pay-per-view cards just two years ago. More

Bantamweight - Song Yadong vs. Vince Morales

Preview: Chinese bantamweight prospect Yadong Song (12-3, 4 KOs, 3 SUBs) will meet newcomer Vincent Morales (13-5, 3 KOs, 2 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.

The UFC is still in search for it’s breakout Chinese star. Perhaps Yadong Song can become just that when he carries the torch for the world’s most populous country this Saturday in Beijing. So far, both of his octagon appearances have resulted in thrilling finishes - a submission over Bharat Khandare and an elbow KO of Felipe Arantes - an excellent start for the 20-year old. More

Welterweight - Li Jingliang vs. David Zawada

Preview: Chinese welterweight Li Jingliang (15-5, 5 KOs, 5 SUBs) will meet Germany’s David Zawada (16-4, 11 KOs, 3 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.

China’s Li Jingliang might not have the goods to become a top welterweight, but he’s been a solid fighter since joining the UFC in 2014. Plus, he’s one of the country’s most recognizable names, and his aggressive style is always good for pumping up a crowd - especially when he’s fighting on his native soil. More

Welterweight - Kenan Song vs. Alex Morono

Preview: Chinese welterweight Kenan Song (13-3, 6 KOs, 6 SUBs) will meet Alex Morono (14-5, 4 KO, 6 SUBs) at UFC Fight Night 141 on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at the Cadillac Arena in Beijing, China. The card airs live on UFC Fight Pass.

Kenan Song’s first two UFC fights could not have gone better: the Jackson-Wink fighter finished both opponents - Hector Aldana and Bobby Nash - with vicious knockout punches. Against Nash, Song needed just 15 seconds to get the job done. His reward? A matchup against Alex Morono in his native country. More

Bantamweight - Liu Pingyuan vs. Martin Day

Middleweight - Kevin Holland vs. John Philips

This fight takes place on Sunday in China, but it will start on Saturday night in the U.S. This event is one of eight fights on the preliminary card on UFC Fight Pass. Yanan is 9-2 in her career, while Mueller is 5-0 in her career. There are a total of four fights on the main card on UFC Fight Pass, with the headliner a bout between Curtis Blaydes and Francis Ngannou. There are also a total of eight fights on the preliminary card also on UFC Fight Pass. Let’s look at the bout between Yanan and Mueller and UFC predictions. More

Women's Strawweight - Zhang Weili vs. Jessica Aguilar

Women's Strawweight - Yan Xiaonan vs. Syuri Kondo

UFC Fight Night 141 Betting Lines, Predictions and Picks

In their first fight, Ngannou popped Blaydes with a left hook that had his eye swollen shut almost immediately. While the American made it through the round, the cageside doctor refused to let the fight continue, resulting in a TKO. But prior to that, Ngannou was shutting down the takedowns and cracking Blaydes with his heavy hands - he had complete control of the fight.

Blaydes is definitely not the same fighter he was, as he’s gotten far more comfortable on the feet. But it’s his wrestling that will be the most important x-factor here. Miocic proved that Ngannou still has a ton to learn when it comes to facing a skilled wrestler, and Blaydes has improved by leaps and bounds since that loss. This is an important matchup for Blaydes, whose on the cusp of a title shot.

Sticking in the heavyweight division, Rashad Coulter will try to shake off a three-fight skid against China’s Yaozong Hu. Coulter has yet to earn a victory inside the octagon, getting knocked out in all three of his appearances. Hu lost his UFC debut to Cyril Asker via rear-naked choke. If anything, it should be a fun, sloppy slugfest - Coulter is always going for the KO.

Women’s strawweight prospect Weili Zhang takes a big step up in competition, meeting Jessica Aguilar in a feature bout. At 17-1, Zhang is coming off a decision win over Danielle Taylor at UFC 227 - her promotional debut. Aguilar is one of the most experienced women’s combatants in the business, with 26 pro bouts and time logged in Bellator, WSOF and the UFC.
