Former champion Khabib Nurmagomedov retired after defending his title last October and the UFC has waited until now to get a new champion. UFC 262: Oliveira vs. Chandler takes place at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. There are five fights on the main pay-per-view card and nine fights on the preliminary card, with three on ESPN/ESPN+ and six on UFC Fight Pass. Also on the card is a welterweight fight between Leon Edwards and Nate Diaz and a lightweight fight between Tony Ferguson and Beneil Dariush.

Oliveira is 30-8-1 in his career with eight knockouts and 19 submissions. He has won his last eight fights. There is no doubt as to the strategy for Chandler in this fight, as he will look to keep the fight standing. Oliveira has 19 submissions and if this fight goes to the mat, then Chandler is in trouble. “Charles Oliveira poses a lot of threats on the ground, but I’ve never even come close to getting submitted,” Chandler said to the media, “I’ve got kind of a sixth sense when it comes to the ground game to not be submitted. The best way I would like to go out there and finish him is just to hit him as hard as I can numerous times on the feet. Keep the fight standing, put him in panic mode, knock him out in the first round. If not the first round, dig a little deeper and go into the second, go into the third. He’s a guy who starts to slow down, especially once you start putting the pressure on him.”
Another big fight on the card has Leon Edwards taking on Nate Diaz. Edwards is 18-3 in his career with six knockouts and three submissions, while Diaz is 20-12 with five knockouts and 11 submissions.
Another key fight has Tony Ferguson going against Beneil Dariush. Ferguson is 25-5 in his career with 12 knockouts and eight submissions, while Dariush is 20-4 in his career with five knockouts and eight submissions.
