UFC 256: Figueiredo vs. Moreno Betting
Flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (20-1, 9 KOs, 8 SUBs) will make his second title defense against Brandon “The Assassin Baby” Moreno (18-5, 3 KOs, 10 SUBs) at UFC 256 on Saturday, December 12, 2020 at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada. The card airs live on pay-per-view starting 10pm ET. In the co-main event, lightweight contender Tony Ferguson (25-4, 12 KOs, 8 SUBs) will meet surging Brazilian Charles Oliveira (29-8, 8 KOs, 19 SUBs). The card also features middleweight “Jacare” Souza, strawweight submission specialist Mackenzie Dern and former heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen a card this deep. The UFC has gotten into the habit of putting on top-heavy cards or even worse - Fight Night lineups that present literally zero intrigue to anyone outside a hardcore audience. Thankfully, that’s not the case with UFC 256.
We lost a banger of a main event between Petyr Yan and Aljamain Sterling, true. Replacing it with a flyweight title fight isn’t going to draw more viewers, but seeing Deiveson Figueiredo jump right back into the fray after beasting through Alex Perez with ease is a good move. Especially after Moreno just iced Brandon Royval on the same card in less than a round. Flyweights have never been a draw, but Figueiredo is an absolute monster who is ragdolling dudes right now. He’s got a long way to go before even sniffing Mighty Mouse’s legend, but not even the GOAT was crushing dudes this easy. Figueiredo might be lapping this division real soon.
In the co-main event: Tony Ferguson. Any El Cucuy fight is must-see television - the man is violence personified. He was battered to pieces by Justin Gaethje in his last matchup, to the point where people have to wonder if he’ll ever be the same. We’ll find out when he meets Charles Oliveira, who has seven straight to become a legitimate contender in the stacked lightweight division. More impressively, all seven wins have come by way of finish - five submissions and two knockouts. The Brazilian has been flying under the radar, but now has a chance to prove himself one of the top 3 lightweights in the world.
In middleweight action, prospect Kevin Holland takes a four-fight winning streak (three coming by way of finish into a scrap with Jacare Souza. Holland could make a huge leap in this matchup: Jacare is big game at 185 pounds, though at age 40 it’s fair to wonder how much the Brazilian has left. A loss could render the longtime contender irrelevant in a weight class where he’s long been a major player.
Mackenzie Dern has had an awesome 2020, scoring first-round submissions over Hannah Cifers and Randa Markos. Basically, she’s been looking like the terrifying grappling ace everybody was expected when she signed to the UFC. We’re looking forward to her grappling exchanges with Virna Jandiroba, who is quite a submission specialist herself with 13 subs in 16 career wins.
Junior Dos Santos will look to break a three-fight losing streak against the undefeated Ciryl Gane. Everybody loves a heavyweight banger, and both dudes can throw heavy leather. If titles were won by the eye test, Gane and Ngannou would be fighting for the title. As Frenchman, they train together, and Gane is every bit as massive at a shredded 6’5”, 265 pounds. He’s taking a huge step up in competition against JDS.
