Yall forget about Bobby Knuckles? The middleweight champ is back after sitting out for over a year on the sidelines. After a pair of hard-fought wins over Yoel Romero which he won and defended the undisputed middleweight title, an emergency surgery took him out of a scheduled title defense against Kelvin Gastelum.
It was a freak injury that suddenly turned life threatening - a staph infection spread to his stomach and started eating away at his organs. That in turn resulted in a twisted and collapsed bowel, making the whole affair sound just as painful as it does gross. Thankfully, the Aussie is back in full health and ready to get going.
Meeting him will be Israel Adesanya, who stepped in to fight Gastelum for the middleweight title. After a thrilling back-and-forth encounter, The Last Stylebender walked away with his arm raised and the right to challenge Bobby Knuckles. Now, it’s title unification time.
But it won’t come easy for Stylebender, who is undeniably on a superstar track. He’ll have to walk into Whittaker’s home country and take that strap - and Australia loves their native champion. The country has produced some of the most electric crowds the UFC has ever seen, giving the linear champ one of the better home court advantages on the roster.

We expect these prices to even out, and honestly we wouldn’t be surprised to see Israel end up as the slight chalk play at some point. Adesanya’s most recent fight against Gastelum is a key reason why he opened as an underdog. While the 30-year old proved that he had the toughness to compete for a championship, Gastelum made him look vulnerable in sports. The catch here is that Whittaker fights a lot like Kelvin, and he does so at a higher level.
If Gastelum was able to pressure and box up Adesanya, than the thinking is that Whittaker should be able to as well. The Aussie proved that he had uncanny durability in both of his fights with Romero - who has been known to obliterate opponents with his ultraviolent blitzes. Not only did Whittaker survive where few men had before, he actually rebounded and regained control of the fight. That’s something that Chris Weidman, Luke Rockhold, Lyoto Machida, Tim Kennedy couldn’t handle - all of them got trucked by Romero at some point.
While more fights are being added to the card, the main event is an absolute banger that could be an instant classic. Adesanya is coming off an early Fight of the Year contender, and Whittaker’s last two fights were some of the most memorable in recent memory.
