UFC 237: Namajunas vs. Andrade Betting
UFC 237 takes place on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at the Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The card airs live on pay-per-view following the ESPN prelims.
It’s time for Rose Namajunas to move on. She shocked the world beating Joanna Jedrzejczyk to win the women’s strawweight title, then had to beat her again to prove that it wasn’t a fluke. Now, she’ll travel into hostile territory to defend her title against Jessica Andrade - in Bate Estaca’s home country of Brazil.
First, she had to beat the strawweight GOAT twice, now Namajunas has to travel to meet a certified killer on her home turf? The UFC is not making things easy for its 115-pound champion. Though Andrade lost convincingly to Jedrzejczyk when they met, she could pose a huge problem for Namajunas. In fact, the Brazilian has opened as a moderate favorite in the sportsbooks.
Why is the champ the underdog here? The prevailing thought is that she doesn’t have the strength to compete with Andrade, who is built like a tank and hits like a howitzer. We’ve seen Rose get muscled around by fighters like Karolina Kowalkiewicz, so how will she cope with a fighter that regularly suplexes her opponents like she’s trying out for Monday Night Raw?
Also on the card is the legendary Anderson Silva, who acquitted himself well against Israel Adesanya recently. The 43-year is a hero in Brazil, although he’s found wins hard to come by recently. Still, if he’s fighting, people will watch. Looking to add a legend’s scalp to his resume will be Jared Cannonier.

Nina Ansaroff - winner of four straight - will look to hand Suarez her first loss.
Jared Cannonier is an intriguing matchup for Silva. An athletic, explosive striker, Cannonier absolutely has the ability to beat the Hall of Famer. But even in his sunset years, Silva is still one of the most challenging striking puzzles out there. How awesome would it be for him to put on a vintage performance in front of his countrymen?
Antonio Rogerio Nogueira is the only Nogueira left in the UFC, and like Silva, his time is coming soon. He doesn’t get an easy matchup against Ryan Spann, who enters the contest with five straight wins. It’ll be interesting to see if this fight hits the mat - Spann has 10 submission wins in 15 career victories.
