Vikings at Rams - NFL Week 4 Football Spreads

A clash of NFC heavyweights lost some of its luster after the Minnesota Vikings were ambushed by the Buffalo Bills last week. Meanwhile, the Los Angeles Rams looked every bit the Super Bowl contender they have become by improving to 3-0 with a takedown of the Chargers. You can bet on this game now at Bookmaker.eu with plenty of live in-game options available. The Vikings will look to get off to a fast start in this one after falling behind the Bills 27-0 at halftime. They have a good chance to put up points early since the Rams have been vulnerable in the first half of their games.

NFL Opening Odds at BookMaker.eu

Minnesota Vikings +6.5

Los Angeles Rams -6.5

Over/Under 48

At least the Vikings won’t have the entire week to stew over their loss to Buffalo, when they were shredded 27-6 as a 16.5-point favorite. Minnesota is too good to allow that to carryover and the Rams might be the unsuspecting victim of a Vikings onslaught. But Minnesota will have to shore up its offensive line if the Vikings want to keep Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh and others out of their backfield. There were too many holes last week and Buffalo took advantage by forcing Cousins into three turnovers.

The Vikings won’t be overlooking anybody after Sunday’s outcome, so expect them to devise a game plan that includes more running plays. They had only six rush attempts for 14 yards while trying to play catch up. The Rams allowed 141 rushing yards to a Chargers team that doesn’t run the ball. That’s a good sign for Latavius Murray and Dalvin Cook, if he’s recovered from the hamstring injury that forced him out of last week’s contest.

In-game betting is available at BookMaker.eu and look for the Vikings to reach the over on their rushing yardage total. They’ll want to keep the ball out of Jared Goff’s hands and away from the Rams explosive offense. The way to do that is to control the game on the ground. They didn’t have a chance against Buffalo, but the Vikings will have more success on Thursday night.

Over/Under

For two teams that are strong defensively, the opening total hit the board at 48, which is the highest for a Minnesota game this season. The Vikings were gouged last week, but they didn’t help themselves with costly turnovers and penalties. The Rams have been slow starters on defense, allowing more than half of their points during the first two quarters. I expect the teams to play over the first half total and so should you by taking advantage of live betting at BookMaker.

Gurley Man

Todd Gurley is the most explosive player in the NFL right now and he and his teammates will be looking for a better showing against the Vikings than they had last season. The Rams scored a season-low in their 24-7 loss in Minnesota, but it was Gurley who scored their only touchdown, one of his NFL-high 19. He scored three times two weeks ago against Arizona and added his fifth of the year in the win over the Chargers. Find an in-game prop bet and consider putting some coin on Gurley to score the game’s first touchdown.

Free ATS Pick

Putting down on the Rams is the favorite wager with most of the early action backing the home team. And why not, the Rams look like the team to beat after dumping their first three opponents while covering the betting line each time. The Vikings looked awful last week, but that’s how this game goes from week to week. Expect the Vikings to return to form for this one and 6.5-points is a bonus for the visitors.

“We’re going to learn from it,” Kyle Rudolph said of the Vikings’ loss to Buffalo. “I think a lot of people were underestimating the Bills this week.” Minnesota needs a strong game to regain their place among the NFC contenders, and they will play well and cover the spread.
