Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers SNF Week 2 Lines

Bears at Packers SNF Week 2 Betting

Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers are looking to bounce back after a disappointing performance in Week 1. The Packers could only score seven points in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings last Sunday, and they know they need to do better against the Chicago Bears this weekend. Chicago looks to have a strong defense this year, but Rodgers is 22-5 against the Bears in his career and the Packers have won six straight in this series. That’s why Green Bay is close to a double-digit favorite per the NFL betting odds on Sunday night.

On Sunday, September 18, 2022, the Green Bay Packers will welcome the Chicago Bears to Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin for Sunday Night Football. This game will kick off at 8:20 p.m. ET on NBC.

NFL Week 2 Betting Odds

Chicago Bears +10

Green Bay Packers -10

Total 42.5

Odds Analysis

Initially, the Green Bay Packers were an 8.5-point favorite in this game, but it currently rests at 10 points as of Thursday morning. The total has fallen too, dropping from 42.5 points to 41.5 points as both defenses are expected to be top ten units in the NFL in 2022.

Chicago Bears

Although Chicago is 1-0 entering this game, the Bears offense is still expected to be one of the worst in the NFL this season. The Bears totaled fewer yards (204) than any other team in Week 1, and they averaged a paltry 3.6 yards per play.

While the weather definitely didn’t help their cause against San Francisco, there just isn’t much talent surrounding Justin Fields. The offensive line is mediocre at best, and the wide receivers are the worst in the NFL. Darnell Mooney is a decent receiver, but he shouldn’t be a No. 1 option, and there isn’t another receiver that would be a starter on another team. With that in mind, it’s going to be tough for the Bears to score 20 points in this game.

The Bears have a Monsters of the Midway type of defense though. Robert Quinn can get after the quarterback, and Roquan Smith is solid in the middle of the defense. This secondary might be the best in the NFL at the end of the season too if rookies Jaquan Brisker and Kyler Gordon can develop. Brisker has the potential to be an All-Pro safety opposite Eddie Jackson, and Jaylon Johnson is already a solid cornerback.

Green Bay Packers

The big question for Green Bay ahead of this week’s game is the status of its offensive line. Star tackles David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins missed Week 1, and the Packers missed their presence. Aaron Rodgers was sacked four times and turned the ball over twice, as he was under more pressure than usual. Bakhtiari and Jenkins are both listed as questionable this week and were limited participants in practice on Wednesday. Additionally, starting left guard Jon Runyan sustained a concussion in last week’s loss to Minnesota and is also questionable to play on Sunday night.

There is also the question of who Rodgers will target in the passing game. Rookie Christian Watson dropped a sure touchdown on the first series, and Rodgers didn’t target him again until late in the fourth quarter. Allen Lazard will likely be the top option if healthy, but he missed Week 1 with an ankle injury and is listed as questionable this week. Rookie Romeo Doubs showed some potential though, and he could be Rodgers’ go-to guy if Lazard isn’t able to suit up.

Green Bay wasn’t great on defense in Week 1. The Packers are expected to be a top five unit on this side of the ball though, as they have talent at every level. Kenny Clark and Jarran Reed should do a good job shutting down the run this week, while the secondary will force Fields into at least one turnover.

The ‘Under’ is the best play in this game given the questions with both offenses and the strength of both defenses. Additionally, keep an eye on the status of Green Bay’s offensive line and take Chicago and the points if two of those three players end up being ruled out.
