BASKETBALL COLLEGE BASKETBALL ARTICLES

  • BookMaker.eu Just because the NCAA Tournament is done until Thursday, it doesn’t mean college basketball is on hiatus. Two NIT quarterfinal matchups are part of Tuesday’s slate of games that also include a trio of contests as part of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament. Two No. 1 seeds in the NIT hit the hardwood with a trip to Madison Square Garden on the line. Unlike the NCAA Tournament, the NIT hosts games on campus sites until its version of the final four is complete. The Hoosiers host Wichita State while...

  • BookMaker.eu A trip to Madison Square Garden and the final four, well the NIT version of the final four, is at stake starting Tuesday when the quarterfinal round of the postseason tournament gets underway. Until the semifinal round all games are played at the home of the better seed, that means Indiana, TCU, Texas and North Carolina State all have the advantage of hosting and all are favored on the opening college basketball betting line. That guarantees nothing other than the home team wearing light colored...

  • BookMaker.eu Saturday was an incredible day for chalk. There weren’t many upsets in the first round games that took place on Thursday, and there were even fewer when those teams played again on Saturday. Although teams like LSU and Kentucky had some close calls, the favorites overwhelmingly prevailed with seven of the eight lower-seeded teams in advancing. The only exception was Auburn in their big win over Kansas, and the Tigers were actually favored over the Jayhawks. Let’s see if there are some upsets on ...

  • BookMaker.eu If you have been betting underdog moneylines at the NCAA Tournament, you have been getting killed. There have been no surprising upsets in the tournament thus far, and every team that was favored yesterday advanced into the Sweet 16. Even the double-digit seeds that won in the first round of the tournament were all favored by 4 points or less when the line closed, so we really haven’t had much madness in March. I don’t expect that to really change on Sunday....

  • BookMaker.eu There have been only a few upsets in the NCAA Tournament thus far, which has not resulted in lucrative payouts for those backing the underdogs. There is a good way to switch gears on Sunday, as gamblers may want to take a look at some of the scoring totals in order to pad the bankroll....

  • BookMaker.eu Trips to the Sweet 16 will be on the line on Saturday, in the first slate of Second Round games. Some of the lower-seeded teams survived scares from small-conference schools on Thursday but withstood the test and will now look to earn their spot in the second weekend of March Madness. There will be just three double-digit seeds (Florida, Murray State, and Minnesota) playing today, as there were no shocking upsets two days ago. ...

  • BookMaker.eu There is money to be made this weekend as teams look to punch their tickets to the second weekend of the NCAA Tournament. The schools that go on to make the Sweet 16 will make a nice chunk of change and get plenty of attention for staying alive until late March, but the money I’m talking about is for you, the gambler. There are some nice opportunities floating around there, so let’s get it. ...

  • BookMaker.eu The NCAA Tournament field has been whittled down to 32 teams, and the winners from Thursday will take the court again on Saturday for second round action. There were clearly some jitters to begin March Madness, but now that the teams have one game under their belt and have a comfort level with their surroundings, the crispness should increase. ...

  • BookMaker.eu Much like Thursday’s games there aren’t a lot of surprises on the opening line for Friday’s 16-game first-round NCAA Tournament slate. The only lower seed listed as a favorite in the entire 32-game first-round is No. 9 Central Florida, which is giving a single point to No. 8. VCU. Three No. 1 seeds hit the hardwood, and just like Gonzaga they are all laying more than 20-points. And they would prefer similar results to the Zags, who covered in a win over FDU. The top overall seed and favorite to ...

  • BookMaker.eu The first set of first-round games was pretty tame with only four upsets among the 16-game slate, the lowest being the No. 12 Murray State Racers over Marquette. And we can’t have a first-round without some chaotic moments, leaving Friday’s 16-game schedule as the table-setter. The rest of the field takes to the hardwood, including the Virginia Cavaliers, who look to erase the memory of last year’s monumental upset loss. The Cavs are back again as a No. 1 seed, this time taking on Gardner-Webb....

  • BookMaker.eu Sometimes early games and the pressure of the NCAA Tournament can result in some low-scoring affairs to start March Madness, but the teams on Thursday did a nice job of hitting the ground running. It will be interesting to see if the Friday participants can pull the same trick....

  • BookMaker.eu The real challenge for you college hoops junkies is picking a bracket against the point spread. Get a perfect score and then we’ll talk. There are no surprises with the opening lines for Thursday’s NCAA Tournament 16-game slate. All the higher-seeded teams are favorites for the simple reason that they are considered by the committee to be better. And the higher the seed, the bigger the spread. Only one No. 1 seed is in action with Gonzaga laying 27 points to Fairleigh Dickinson. I have the Zags ...

  • BookMaker.eu Let the Madness begin! The term was created in reference to what happens on the hardwood, but it very easily could describe the office pools or any viewing party with a group of people gathering to watch their favorite, or least favorite, team. Either way, it hits mark. The wackiest three weeks in sports gets going with a 16-game slate of first-round NCAA Tournament games on Thursday....

  • BookMaker.eu The proliferation of March Madness brackets means the majority of viewers will be concentrating on the victors of Thursday’s NCAA Tournament games. But bettors know there are more ways to make money on the tournament, and one of the underrated ways is on the scoring total....

  • BookMaker.eu The last of the NCAA Tournament First Four games are on tap as part of a busy Wednesday schedule in college basketball. Just to get everyone excited for the first weekend of the Big Dance, we have a bunch of first round games from the other postseason tournaments as well. The NIT wraps up first round action with six games on the slate with the home team favored in each contest. The NIT, along with the College Basketball Invitational and the CollegeInsider.com Tournament host games at campus site...

  • BookMaker.eu Just because the regular season is over doesn’t mean the hoops have to stop or slow down. Au contraire, things are just starting to heat up and Wednesday’s slate on the college basketball schedule features matchups from all four postseason tournaments. The biggest takes place in Dayton, Ohio, where the North Dakota State Bison are a 4.5-point favorite to beat North Carolina Central in a NCAA Tournament First Four game. The winner gets No. 1 overall seed Duke. Arizona State is a slim 1.5-point fa...

  • BookMaker.eu There are always teams that feel deserving of a NCAA Tournament at-large bid after failing to secure a conference title. Those of you who threw down on UNC Greensboro were disheartened to learn of their snub. For the most part, however, the committee got it right, and the field is set for the three-week battle to determine the 2019 National Champion....

  • BookMaker.eu All eyes will be focused on Dayton for the start of the NCAA Tournament and the First Four games. But those two matchups are just a small piece of the Tuesday college basketball slate with other postseason tournaments getting underway. The fight for the 69th best team in the country is contested in the NIT Tournament with 10 first round games at campus sites....

  • BookMaker.eu Get those brackets ready because madness will ensue for the next three weeks. If the conference tournaments weren’t exciting enough, the real Madness gets underway on Tuesday with a pair of NCAA Tournament play-in games. Oh, but wait. There are several other postseason tournaments that increase the chances of you winning at the betting window....

  • BookMaker.eu This is it. The last six automatic bids to the NCAA Tournament will be filled on Sunday afternoon as the last six conferences determine which team will be crowned their champion. For conferences like the Ivy League, Atlantic 10, and the Sun Belt Conference, the winner today will get to join in on March Madness, while the loser is relegated to a lesser tournament. Bigger conferences like the SEC, AAC, and Big Ten have seen both of their finalists do enough to earn an at-large bid, so this will be...

  • BookMaker.eu This is your last chance to bet college basketball before March Madness begins in earnest on Thursday. There are six conference championship games to bet on Sunday, and they are all early afternoon games as they must finish up before the Selection Committee determines the field of 68 teams for the NCAA Tournament. Every single game has seen at least a small move towards the under, with the total in both the Big 10 Championship Game and SEC Championship Game dropping by four points since open last night. ...

  • BookMaker.eu We’re right in the thick of conference tournament season, and the best conferences in the country will be holding the semifinals or finals of their conference tournament today. The Big Ten and SEC are holding their semifinals on Saturday, while the Big East, Big 12, and ACC will be holding their finals tonight. Very few teams are still playing for a spot in the NCAA Tournament, but today will go a long way to determining teams’ seeds tomorrow....

  • BookMaker.eu By this time next week, everyone will have a serious case of March Madness. The NCAA Tournament will be in full force next Saturday, but the field still needs to be set over the course of the next two days. While we are confident that around 60 spots in the 68-team field have been set, there are still those last remaining spots to play for as well as all-important seeding. Coaches are coaching for their jobs, players are playing for their future, and we gamblers are gambling to get that money....
